• This is bullshit. This isn't a regulatory issue, it's a criminal one.

If the government were serious about enforcing laws against the creation and dissemination of child sexual abuse material the Gardaí should have been down on Fenian St on Monday morning putting Twitter's computers into the back of a van on foot of a search warrant. Followed closely by the arrest for questioning of every EMEA senior executive and every manager in a regulatory compliance role.

Once you have the necessary info then it's time for prosecutions under section 9 of the 1998 Act of individual executives and managers within Ireland's jurisdiction. Prosecutions under sections 4A(1)(d), 5, and 6 as the case may be of any relevant staff in Ireland. Charges under those same sections and section 9 of any staff wherever based and the issuance of an EAW based on those charges.

That should include an EAW for Musk. If he or any of the directors, executives, managers, or engineers involved in the creation and dissemination of this tool and the CSAM it creates land in Europe they can enjoy being arrested and prosecuted.

This is CSAM. It's not a joke. These amoral freaks need to be treated the same way we should treat anyone facilitating paedophilia and sexual abuse.

This is saying to a platform, keep your internal documents, don't get rid of them, because we have doubts about your compliance ... and we need to be able to have access to them if we request it explicitly,"

So so weak. Imagine if I published a newspaper that printed even a fraction of what X has put out into the world.

Would the European Commission request that I keep proper records, in case they needed to investigate, or would the gardaí be knocking on my door?

  • The Government would love to do something about this, but standing up to a tech company would be bad for Brand Ireland™.

  • He is Minister, she is a junior Minister of State in his department.

True. I was going to put colleague, but felt it important to highlight minister given how craven and appalling what he said was.

  • Thank god one of them has a soul. Mea while we have Patrick O'Donovan claiming that hosting child porn (and the tools eith which to create child porn) isn't something anyone should blame Twitter over.
