Our CSAM laws apply equally to drawings or other representations. We would prosecute someone who was making this content themselves and profiting from it, we should not draw a distinction simply because they've put an algorithm that they designed in between themselves and the end user.
Our law on CSAM allows us to charge bodies corporate and pierce the corporate veil to hold their directors and managers accountable. Those executives are based here and can be convicted on a negligence basis. They allowed the tool to be sold here, and can't claim ignorance as to its capabilities, it is their duty to inform themselves.
Not being here doesn't mean we can't get them either. The imagery is distributed in Ireland we can also charge those outside the jurisdiction. The US would never extradite them, but by placing a European Arrest Warrant for them on the basis of those charges we would essentially ban them from the EU.

Mastodon is a German non profit... Similar issue to Threads and Bluesky with the userbase.

Mastodon is not at all intuitive though for new users. It’s unnecessarily complicated (an issue Bluesky has too).

At least anyone who wants to can make a client for it. There's a few already, though most are just forks of the regular site but slightly modified.
Every account comes with an rss feed though, so if you're only using it for live-ish updates you can use that instead of touching the site at all.
