I posted here a few months ago about an Irish language game I made and got some great feedback.
I have now updated the game with a lot of the suggestions I received and I have added 1,000 of the most common Irish words and phrases to the app.
Please feel free to play, It's completely free and no signup needed!
You can play by going to www.moxi.ie > Start Game > Cúpla Focal > Create Room
If anyone has plans to improve their Cúpla focal in 2026, I hope this helps!
Ar aghaidh leis an nGaeilge! ☘️
This is class but should def add a feature to hear the sentence spoken
There is a service out there that I hoping to use for this but it's proving more difficult to hook up to the app than I expected. I'll hopefully figure it out though!
Yeah, this is a great idea and it's a cool thing you've started, but it really needs audio. a spoken language can't be learnt from just reading. It's like trying to learn music from looking at sheet music.
I'd argue this isn't a learning app, more of a reminding app.
True, but this is still a good standalone aid to help refresh people, even if it doesn't go that far.
You could spin up your own instance of kokoro tts (fast API) through a docker container and either pre-record or have it query that live. Benefit here is it's a free solution! Might have to curate the pronunciations but could be worth the time given lack of monetary investment!
ElevenLabs? I’ve used their API to create a similar app before. Shoot me a DM if you need any help
I feel like we'd all end up arguing about pronunciation. And it'd get even worse when the gaeilgeoirs get involved.
This is excellent. Well done. I know more than I thought.
Maith thú! GRMA!
Thanks.
High score 18🦾 not sure if I'll be at that!
Maith thú! This looks ar feabhas!
This is great especially cos you’ve made it yourself, hope this gets traction in the sub
Class, love to see it, míle mhaith agat!
Am I wrong or does bád have a double meaning? Teehee
Bád = boat.
Bud = penis.
Top score 27. Was playing last year and shared with a few Irish educators I know and they love it.
Thank you very much, this is a lovely idea
Really like this, fair play
Ar fheabhas. GRMA!
This is a very sexy sentence.
I got a streak of nine and then got the last couple wrong because I was flapping about time. I'll have to try again.
Commenting so I can find this tomorrow. Thanks.
