• The US and Israel are moving in to bomb. It won't be "great" for the people of Iran. If Iran cannot defend itself now, it will be subject to semi-random bombing raids indefinitely.

The Marcos regime in the Philippines fell without being bombed indefinitely, so did the USSR.

It won't matter if the regime falls, my dude. They will be indefinitely bombed just like Lebanon and Syria to ensure that they can never be stable.

The regime has been killing its own for decades, it does matter if it falls, especially if you think the area is going to be bombed either way

I think that if Iran can defend itself it won't be bombed indefinitely and can be stable.

I don't like this regime but the government has promised concessions, and they did provide concessions after the last wave of protests as well. In fact, Iran has been steadily improving on social issues for the past decades. It's the economy that is the problem and that's a result of almost complete economic isolation, which is NOT going to change if Iran becomes a failed state.

Do you think Iran in its present state can defend itself from US invasion?

From a B2 bombing campaign? Likely not.

    From an invasion? Probably.

ok, so the revolution should take place

why US didn't bomb Iran indefinitely in 1979

Why on earth would anyone want to invade? My bet would be on decapitation strikes to destabilize the current political elites. This would allow the population to “take care” of the issue how they see fit.

Ask the other commenter who mentioned invasion. I agree that an invasion is highly unlikely. The US got fatigued of boots on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan. Sanctions aren't really working anymore. So they will use sabotage, air strikes and short ground campaigns in the next decade.
