I want to know from people who are living in Iran rn, not from the Western or Al Jazeera new media. What's the reality on the ground? I see video clips on mosque on fire, one mosque i think, and then some guys ripping a huge Iranian flag from the pole in northern iran so while MAGA or conservative influencers in the west are calling this a rebellion or Iranian breaking away from Islam?! while Khomeini denounced these protest as mossad or American sympathizers or vandals.
I see that the western media is saying Iranians are out on the call of the so-called crown prince while other local media outlets i see that its coz iranian are sick and tired of the bad economic conditions and western sanctions, etc.
I personally don't support Khomeini like many pakistanis especially those who are young but he has a lot of reverence in our Shia community. My (Shia) maths teacher has him as her profile picture on whatsapp so that's that.
Also, don't support the pahlavis especially not their descendants, who are Zionists. No one here support zionist or pahlavis neither do I support the Khomeini regime. It's absurd to have a clergy as my head of state espically with the title of "Supreme Leader of Iran," that too unelected.
and question also is why did the Iranian people, after topling the authoritarian monarchy, go for this clergy rulership rather than just a president and pm model?
How much support do the Pahlavis have, and do you see em returning to Iran as rulers?
Thank you for reading this post is not intended to cause offend just here to have my questions answered and get a new, clear perspective
EDITH LET ME CLARIFY WE DON'T SUPPORT THE KHOMENIS AT ALL we want to seee a democratic iran with a elected PM and president no pahlavi monarchy as why topple one authoritarian regime to get under another one we would love the sanction on iran to be lifted so we can trade more openly
Right now the internet is cut off in Iran, but people are getting videos out using star link. From what we can see, people are in the streets in masses. It is happening in every province, every town. And the police are brutally beating, kidnapping, and shooting civilians. Last time they cut off the internet 1500 people were killed. But the protests are so big and widespread that this is becoming a revolution. The protests became very large after Reza Pahlavi sent out a message asking everyone to come out and protest. From the videos we have, we can see people chanting his name in the streets. It’s hard to tell how widespread his support is. Some Iranians truly want him back, some may just be supporting him because they are in such a horrible state that they feel like any kind of change is a good one. He has become a symbol to rally around for this revolution, like him or not.
The supreme leader Khameini is a brutal, ruthless, dictator. It makes me sick that he is so revered in Pakistan. He sent out a message a few days ago basically saying it’s your own fault if we murder your children while they’re protesting. Death to Khameini!
"province, every town"
This is just not true.
The protests are only around important places of Iran including the capital and few other cities but largely speaking the other areas haven't seen any protests yet according to the proven videos.
Yes, google map of Iranian protests. I’m trying to paste a link here but it won’t let me for some reason.
are u iranian do u have family back in iran or are u one of those persian people living in LA?
What kind of question is this? Yes, I’m Iranian. I have family in Iran. I do not live in LA.
no I mean no offense I just wanted to check the info im getting is not from those who left iran in the 90s and don't have much or the same views as the ordinary iranian tho I agree with you on whats happening in iran.
One side of my family in Iran is pro-monarchy, the other hates the shah. There are differing views in Iran just like in any other country.
my Dad lived through the Shah and saw his neighbours disappear and people starving left right and centre, things only appeared "good" because the country was treated well like Saudi Arabia is today, he's not the answer to any of these problems.
the people in Iran I've talked to don't support anyone, they just want reform and better living standards.
Yes that’s my impression too. I think there are some shah supporters but it’s overplayed in the media.
Do you want monarchy?
Either way I don't think they can succeed because the protests doesn't seem well directed especially when you're fighting against armed soldiers who can potentially shoot hundreds if you cross the line they make.
The only hope is US intervention which never gives anyone a happy ending or the protesters simply take out the Supreme Leader themselves or force him to flee Iran which is very unlikely given they don't have an upperhand.
This!
The regime will not give up the power so easily. There is going to be a bloodbath before anything meaningful happens which I’m not so optimistic. The protests lack a real leader. That piece of shit Pahlavi is a fucking clown at best. This regime is going to kill people by the thousands. 😞
Yep, that bum is useless because he does nothing but stir up everyone to fight meaningless battles on ground while he sits comfortably inside USA and make short clips on Iran protests.
I'm definitely not pro blood bath especially when there's an internet blackout.
I’m so worried about my country and my people 😔 none of this is any good.
Do you have family in Iran?
I have someone too but because of the internet blackout none of us can connect.
Even though I'm sure they're safe, it makes you feel worried.
Hoping everything calms down soon.
Yes I have exactly 88 relatives in Iran and around 30 friends I care so much about. I was actually preparing to move back to Iran and my uncle was looking for an apartment for me to purchase. So I’m very worried and sad about the whole situation 😔
Hoping they're safe and sound too.
I'm not originally from Iran but I have friends over there.
Are you Muslim?
Well, in his last message he said he’s getting ready to go to Iran. 🤷🏻♀️
I don’t like him either. I have very mixed feelings of worry, hope, anger, fear, excitement.
There’s no way a revolution will happen without blood.
no wonder iranian govt was trying to move the capital from Tehran to some city on the makran coast near the pakistani border like Sisi dictator of egypt moved his capital to new cairo so that the protestors would have to march tho a desert and open plains to oppose his rule
interesting
these bozo do everything but won't help the civilians
HE IS NOT REVERSED IN PAKISTAN. Most Pakistanis don't like him or have a good enough opinion of him, or just don't care
. Our Shia community at least some Shia ik here, are supportive of him as a religious figure. Pakistan is like 90 percent sunni so we don't have any reverence or opinion on him
but we don't like Pahlavis. We used to like the Shah of iran he was the first leader to recognize Pakistan but not his son and descendants they are seen as Zionist. One of their daughter married a Jewish man so that didn't help.
, obviously. Despite being a islamic country, we never had a compulsory hijab thing honestly I think the Khomeini regime is a stain on Islam itself. A state forcing women to wear hijab is absurd and having a clergy as head of state that too unelected also something we don't agree with
I just hope that Iranian drive Khomeini out and establish a new democracy and not be ruled by any authoritarian so that US can stop the sanctions that are crippling iranian economy, and Pakistan and Iran can trade more.
That bum does nothing
Inside 2022 protests he made similar messages and sat comfortably in a far away nation and acted like he cared about iran and now he is repeating the same sentences all over again.
Good to hear!

the internet is noise. make of it what you will. there are rumors that khameini sent gold bullion to russia on emergency flights, possibly in preparation to flee. but his flight is unlikely— the security forces along with the moral authority are all in lock step. like 1979, this is a youth led movement; saying that pahlavi instigated the protests by sending out a message is flat out incorrect. domestic iranians —even those who hate khameini— have no love for pahlavis, who were the precursor to the brutal suppression and economic hardship that led to the ‘79 revolution. the IRGC learned all their torture techniques from SAVAK. the people on the ground are suffering due to sanctions, economic strife, and political suppression. violent protest is an inevitable result. it’s easy to sit on the sidelines and prognosticate on the keyboard. but some semblance of ground reality will only appear after the smoke and dust settle. either the shah’s forces will win out, or the people’s protest will— in which case, it will remain to be seen of the youth align themselves with another leadership structure of oppression.
Wait, who sent gold to Russia? The Shah is dead!
i meant khameini
