Well I’m asking because people compare him to Itachi from Naruto who was able to box with KCM Naruto who is light speed. Im in the middle researching this more thoroughly but I’m just trying to gauge other people’s view on his speed in case I missed something

So, if we assume Sesshomaru is incredibly fast, based on the examples given, he would have had no problem finishing off and killing Inuyasha. And even after his quest to find his father's tomb, he had multiple opportunities to kill him. And he never did. So what's the explanation?

Well I’m looking into Itachi vs Sesshomaru for a possible video. So I’m just trying to make sure I cover everything i need to and speed can be the biggest factor in vs battles. Especially with characters who have one shot abilities like these two
He's the speed of light in close combat. At times, he closes distance at the speed of light for sure. He doesn't try at even 50 percent most of the time. He's too proud d for that.

They were in an enclosed space with limited room for movement. Being faster than an inexperienced human is far from teleportation. If he was really that fast, Inuyasha would not have outrun him to his father's shoulder.
As I said, in close combat. And if you watch the scene, he's even stopped in front of her for a half second before she realized he was there. She may be slow, but a human eye can track pretty fast movement.
Plus he was standing right beside inuyasha and got to kagome before he could even make a step to protect kagome.
I wouldn't compare him to someone like Dyspo in Dragon Ball Super (he actually could run at the speed of light) but maybe a Flash Step master like Yoruichi or Shunsui from Bleach, or the Sonido that Zangetsu/Ichigo use.

Additionally, you might be in the wrong sub to ask this question, since most of the higher scaling for characters of this series happens in Yashahime rather than InuYasha, and people in this sub don't particularly find Yashahime or Powerscaling in general to be very appealing.

Kōga was fast with the jewel shards in his legs. Perhaps his top speed could compete with the three yōkai mentioned above, but his acceleration was noticeable inferior. Without the shards, Kōga’s speed is mediocre for a yōkai.
It’s been a while since I’ve watched the anime. Perhaps someone else remembers other fast InuYasha characters.
