Hello all, I have a Polyphemus moth who has recently passed, and was put in the freezer. I have the kit to pin, but his wings are so damaged, as in basically the whole tips are gone and the bottom is frayed. I really want to try to repair the wings using something like tea bags and gold leaf, but I am afraid of damaging them, and making them look tacky. I also considered using donor wings from a specimen that I would purchase, but honestly it feels wrong. This moth means a lot to me in ways that nobody would understand, and I am also considering just pinning the moth as is, with severely tattered wings. I am planning on including the cocoon it hatched from in the shadow box I will display it in. Please be gentle with comments, this is a subject that currently is fragile for me.
