I don't know how accurate the voicemail transcript is, but I'm sure its just as incoherent in the audio.

  • Oh man this feels so familiar - I've been no contact for a decade now from my lunatic religious parent, can't recommend it enough.

I'm working on it. I unfortunately live 5 minutes away, so if I ever change my number without moving first, she WILL show up and try to break into my house for answers.

So until I secure a way out of the county, I try to keep tabs at a distance.

    That sounds rough, oof.

  • What the fuck. Certified insane.

  • Does this person use drugs or alcohol?

No. My mom is very anti-substance. Especially when it comes to prescribed medications. She believes in homeopathic remedies, "God cures all," and is very against vaccines and psychiatric/mental therapy in every form.

Ahh Christian Scientist, those people are completely whack-ado.

Not even. She thinks they're nuts. It's her own brand of Judeo-Christianity that, considering her narcissism, is just a religious means to justify herself right all the time.

She doesn't see people as people, and only values relationships based on how much she can get from them. "God" is her biggest tool.

  • Wayyyy too much to unpack there, so I'll just ask what "space chewing" is

No idea. Probably something the voice to text misheard

  • I would call Adult Protective Services in response to every one of these. Teach her that her harassing you with her inanity will result in her being reported as such.

I've already tried, but in my State & County, because she was already discharged from a Mental Hospital (when a judge filed for an incompetence evaluation in the middle of a case), they said "She's, by legal status, of her own mind. We cannot intervene until she says otherwise."

That’s what the police are for right? You can absolutely get a restraining order against family. I’d do that ASAP

Not really. As history shows (both nationally and in Country-esque areas), the police are NOT equipped to handle this. Yes they could send her through the criminal system, and that would solve MY problem, but she's still my mom and I want the best for her.

Doing that would inevitably incarcerate her, not giving her the help she needs. The system may fail her, but I on good conscious haven't been pushed to make that decision.

  • Insane. My goodness, I'm so sorry you're going through this.
