Has anyone had the chance to compare the Bones super 6 swiss and the reds big balls?

  • What’s your skating level, and how lazy are you about gear maintenance? Unless you’re a serious speed skater or jumper, or refuse to clean your bearings after every 10 skate sessions, Reds of any flavor are absolutely fine.

Assuming you’re neither, Reds will happily go years if clean them regularly. I have four sets of Bones Swiss, including an original set from my ‘80s skateboarding days, a set of Super 6 Swiss, and two sets of Reds. Reds are basically indistinguishable in regular use.

Maintenance is the key to making bearings last decades. Clean modern metallurgy regularly, and as long as you aren’t pushing its performance envelope, it will last until some marketer convinces you that you have to have the new new thing.

  • I just came here to LOL at your title! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

  • If I have to guess, bigger balls are less likely to dent the bearing races if doing big jumps and otherwise, more durable for big tricks.

Both of these are big balls.

then the only difference is the Swiss one will be made in Switzerland while the other one is made in China.
