Therapy II is a banger, but I can see how maybe lyrically it doesn’t totally fit on the record. It’s a bit darker/more Cave World vibes than the rest of the songs
People shit on the Fall when it came out but I think it has aged like a fine wine all the while being better than everything they released after it apart from a couple select tracks
If you take the fall for what it is (a small side thingy made on an ipad during a tour) its absolutely lovely. It has a few standout songs as well. Amarillo might be one of my favs in their entire repertoire.
Guess The Fall just had the problem of being the last "big" gorillaz thing before the breakup.
I've been preaching about the Gorillaz influence on Viagra Boys since I first heard The Cognitive Trade-Off Hypothesis and I feel like I'm the only one who hears it. Thanks for also noticing.
I've heard this to and for some reason I haven't been able to get into Devo. I don't get the same enjoyment from their music. I've only really listened to Are We Not Men? Any suggestions or do I just stick with Viagra Boys?
Just an empirical counterpoint: the staff at my local record store in Adelaide love viagra boys and this album, and I'd bet pretty heavily that none of them go on reddit. They're playing a string of shows in Australia in a few weeks and people are hyped
“Noise for noise’s sake” is a wild take and instantly has me pitying how narrow your tastes must be. They are not a remotely challenging or inaccessible band.
The boys doing a wonderfully atmospheric, sad slow jam and then calling it Cumboy is so on brand. Songs rules though.
It and Therapy II are both fantastic and I would have put them on the main album.

Watching You has Gorillaz written all over it
Could've easily fit on The Fall for sure. Love the track

speaking of The Fall, The Fall’s frontman Mark E. Smith will posthumously feature on the upcoming Gorillaz album.
I put The Fall and The Now Now right behind Demon Days and Self Titled. I didn't really care for plastic beach but I'm in the minority there I think.

It's 100% there but Watching You makes it beyond explicit.
Fully agree on that.
I also feel really strong DEVO influences on some of there tracks. Like sometimes I think Troglodyte is best track DEVO never released. 😂

Yup was thinking the same!

Even the cut tracks are good.
Nice to get therapy ii. They played it live when I saw them in Denver.
They played it in Houston too. Loved hearing the recorded version for its synths and also loved the live version for its power and intensity.
My AOTY

This album was definitely one of my surprise favorites this year, looking forward to hearing the extra tracks
Read this as Japanese Breakfast edition and was stoked to get the weirdest collab of all time
Her videos are pretty unhinged, actually, I can sort of imagine her doing one for VB.
I was wondering how new this is when I realized listening numbers were updating fast on youtube music!
How the heck do I order a copy!
Some great additions, the first 3 would've been among my favourites from the original album if they were on it
Vinyl?
why are redditors obsessed with this album? Never heard anyone else talk about.
It's literally noise for noise's sake, and "Viagra Boys" is the type of shit a middle schooler would name their band
Go to bed, gramps
