Singer-songwriter Bill Callahan: ‘I’m not a craftsman – I’m more of a drunk professor who likes coincidence and mistakes’

    Sounds about right

“I used to be darker, then I got lighter, then I got dark again

Something too big to be seen was passing over and over me”

I love each and every one of these lyrics. Not because of the words themselves, but because of the way Bill delivers them in the song.

My favorite Bill lyric is from that same album: “I flipped my forelock, I twitched my withers, I reared and bucked. I could not put my rider aground.”

I saw him at a farmers market in Austin and was too afraid of bothering him to say hi.

Thanks for listening to my Ted talk.

Same. I've seen him in person multiple times but for privacy sake I'll leave the details/context out. He's pretty quiet and reserved in person but friendly.

Seeing him play in Brooklyn was a highlight. My wife and I got amazing sausages before the show. Go if you can make it to a live show

Second this… was lucky enough to see him twice and was blown away both times (and I’m just a casual fan!)

My only complaint was his music is suited more for a sit down show. I was standing a long time

I took my mom, which was a poor choice, but hearing his voice in person was astounding. There's such a deep, resonance in his chest, like if a bass guitar could sing. Truly remarkable.

Ingesting enough, I saw him in Austin at a sausage shop. Really a crazy old Biergarten/german restaurant.

So was it a sausage fest then?

Can’t wait for his new one. Both tracks released are 10/10

He comes across in interview exactly as you imagine he would from listening to his songs.

He’ll never be a Bowie, he’ll never be an Eno

ETA: downvote me but then look up (smog) lyrics thx
