They are asking about making a game, something they would be profiting off of. If you think someone is going to sue someone for making a meme, you are crazy.
I saw ai generated Christmas videos on the lobby’s tv in my grandma’s nursing home, even though it shouldn’t have been hard to find some generic Christmas stock footage. It was really sad.
If we think of 1 monopoly dollar as 1k USD and 1 turn as 1 year, the rent for the first brown property with 1 house, would be about right for the cost of renting a mobile home (which is think is reasonable for a 1 house brown)
It wouldn't be too hard to argue that each monopoly dollar is equivalent to 1000 real dollars, so really you'd be starting off with less than a single monopoly dollar
Maybe if i had a starting loan that can buy anything it wants, and when i run out of income i got a stable massive paycheck each time i make a quick round.
If nobody gets any monopoly and nobody want to trade thats exactly what happens. You just keep going around collecting money and the game goes on forever because more money enters the game than leaves it.
The perspective of the supposedly deep thought is that you should invest in real estate.
Yes, it would be great to invest your money and see long-term gains, but we're the ones running around the board paying GM ryperds and trying to stay out of Jal.
Over the last 8 years of rent ive paid aabiut 450k to my landlord, the house im renting is only worth 325k. Reason i am renting is because 10 years ago i was 18 with no credit, due to never having had debt to pay, and my bank wouldnt give me a loan. Today i still cant get a loan because i "cant afford a payment of $1100 a month," when that is literally what i pay in rent.
The cool think about monopoly is you start with like $2000 which is enough to buy the most expensive thing 4 times. In this analogy the average person starts with $20 and has to hope they never get hit with a fee before they make it around the board
Imagine playing Monopoly and not getting how it’s a critique on monopolies within property. For God’s sake, it’s called Monopoly, not Capital, it is literally in the name. Monopoly is very georgist, which is still capitalists.
Imagine being this shallow on a subreddit for critiquing shallowness.
Okay? I’m pretty sure the original game by Magie had a specific mode for critiquing monopolies. Also, I literally said Monopoly is georgist and now you’re repeating that claim. Your original claim is that it was a critique of capitalism, not a critique of private property.
Now imagine playing monopoly, 2 people start with the regular starting cash and you start with 100. Now THATs how it mostly is. Sprinkle some bad decisions here or there, some luck here or there and done.
Actually, that’s the way you’re supposed to play. After a couple games of ‘hey, it really sucks to be anyone but the winner’, you’re supposed to realize ‘hey, if no one ever buys anything, no one else ever has to pay rent. The only thing that ever costs anyone any money is taxes, which only ever take a percentage of what you have anyway. If everyone just cooperates and doesn’t buy anything, everyone just keeps getting richer, forever.’ And then you stop playing because that’s boring as shit, but you learned a lesson about capitalism at least.
Lol. Maybe just maybe they should do something to break that cycle then instead of mindlessly wandering around, sticking their hands out to others to give them money and then handing that money over to those that are providing some of the most important things in life (food and shelter).
In any case, here at least, if you look at home ownership rates its well over 50%, especially if you exclude under 18s or those very early in their careers (say under 30s).

The AI generated board is funnier than the post
I have no idea why they couldn't just use a photo of a monopoly board 😭
Whoever created this meme couldn't afford to buy the game.
Bro doesn’t even pass go 🥀
Seen this done many times, people instead of just downloading a meme template ai generate it instead
Downloading copyrighted work comes with risks that people will tend to avoid if they can.
Memes arent copyrighted
The monopoly board sure as hell is.
No one is going to sue you for using monopoly board in a silly facebook "meme"
https://law.stackexchange.com/questions/18776/is-monopoly-protected-by-copyright-trademark
Well they COULD, and that's enough to make some people avoid it.
They are asking about making a game, something they would be profiting off of. If you think someone is going to sue someone for making a meme, you are crazy.
I'm quite sure there have been examples of exactly that sort of thing in the past.
And even if you are correct and the odds of being sued successfully are minimal, its probably enough to nudge people to do that.

Imagine playing Monopoly but you start with $50 while the whole board is already owned by other players.
And you need to pay for services and living needs every turn
Well that's just basically when we land into other player case
If we think of 1 monopoly dollar as 1k USD and 1 turn as 1 year, the rent for the first brown property with 1 house, would be about right for the cost of renting a mobile home (which is think is reasonable for a 1 house brown)

And even then, it's still only one person who has all the money and property in the end.
If nobody gets any monopoly and nobody want to trade thats exactly what happens. You just keep going around collecting money and the game goes on forever because more money enters the game than leaves it.
In the game, nobody owns the property when the game starts.
But also the whole point of the game is that even with everyone starting equally, one person ends up winning while everyone else goes bankrupt
The perspective of the supposedly deep thought is that you should invest in real estate.
Yes, it would be great to invest your money and see long-term gains, but we're the ones running around the board paying GM ryperds and trying to stay out of Jal.
And then its 70% luck, 20% networking, just like irl
What the fuck is that
In Monopoly you start equal with a decent amount of money
In real life you're starting the game poor when all assets are already taken
This bord definitely has a lot of "Chance "
That’s the deepest thing here.
Yeah except you're forced to join the game as soon as all the properties are bought and upgraded
Buying property means that if your home province becomes obsolete, you’re out your investment.
At least renting means you are under no illusion the investment will pay for itself.
If you rent you are paying for someone else’s dream. Of course most don’t have any other option, but owning property is far better if you can.

Do you recommend owning
we live in a society (and not a board game)

I like how there's an entire jail street.
classic AI slop after all
The board is set in America, that's why
I hate to say it but that was the inventors original point. And then she had her idea stolen. Making her point even more relevant I guess

When the cheapest properties cost far more than that $200, what the hell else are you supposed to do?

I didn’t mean to sound arrogant, it just pisses me off. But please, may you explain how I am wrong?
It's a critique of private ownership of land
The game wasn't named monopoly by its creators
Okay? I’m pretty sure the original game by Magie had a specific mode for critiquing monopolies. Also, I literally said Monopoly is georgist and now you’re repeating that claim. Your original claim is that it was a critique of capitalism, not a critique of private property.
Yeah, because in this analogy, one player has body guards with assault rifles to prevent the others from acquiring property
Sure if you stayed at a different hotel multiple times a week spending vastly more money than you take in. I guess that's a fair comparison.
I mean ... I feel like it's a decent lesson to learn.
It’s just kinda nonsense. In monopoly you start with capital and no one owns anything

No kidding. The original monopoly was a socialist educational tool. It still is, actually.

COLLCC7 まAD CHPI!L7
Is it not exactly why the game was created?
Didn't need to look at the board to realize it's made by AI.
Some people start with half 200, 40% rent, 30% food, 29% car, insurance, utilities
in jail...in jail...in jail...TAX...in jail
When passing go pays 200 and passing free parking costs 200, and you start with 0, it's hard to buy things.
Uhm... "trying to stay out of jail"?
I kinda find staying out of jail to be quite easy.
Dunno.
life is not monopoly.
Monopoly was literally designed to make a point about real life
Why do you even need the ghibli art style for a fucking monopoly board
Bruh… true!
Actually, that’s the way you’re supposed to play.
