To be fair, the Ukrainian army is full of people who had nothing to do with the military before the invasion. 600k-800k Ukranians joined the military voluntarily and about 1 million have been conscripted since the start of the invasion. I'm sorry, but this kind of "enlightened centrism" enables fascism. I don't think it's on purpose or anything but it just is the case that these types of "both sides are too extreme" arguments legitimize far right talking points and never the left. One side wants to get rid of immigrants, force the LGBTQ community into the closet, use the police and military to target political enemies, push American exceptionalist propaganda to kids, cut taxes for the rich and destroy the social safety net. One side wants free healthcare, public universities, fair wages and universal childcare.
I'm not enabling anything, I'm just telling people that they need to figure it out and learn how to meet in the middle.
The problem is, both sides want different things that have extreme costs to the other side so nobody will come to an agreement because it doesn't center around their values.

America was based on immigration, we come from immigrants, we didn't do it legally back then, but I do believe that everyone should go through proper channels if they see the US as a better way of life.
I personally don't fall in line with LGBTQ lifestyles, I'm not into that whole thing and I don't find it appealing, but at the same token, I live my life and you live yours.
I can tell which way you lean politically based on your statement above, you make it sound like everything right wing is horrendous and the left wing only once what's best for everybody.
Remember that there's great cost for everything, that's why nothing can ever be achieved unless middle ground can be found and unfortunately, nobody can agree on middle ground.

I think a good example of how this manifests is how ICE is being counter protested in Chicago, Minnesota, Boston, etc. They're not being met with violent force but a group of ppl that just want them to leave.
