Typically, what I've seen is that the main issue is they don't have the proper immunity to wild rabbit diseases and so catch them and suffer greatly from them. Then, they can spread it to other rabbits a lot easier as they have more symptoms for longer.
Not defending this person but we had a domesticated bunny show up on our farm in nh. I sent a picture to nh fish and game and they told me I could catch it and bring it to a shelter or I could just let it be it would probably survive the winter. 🤷🏻♂️
