In order to combat this the aliens made a stringy fibrous layer in the undersuits of their armor
Its purpose was to disable the horrific chain weapons human liked to use by tangling and clogging the chain and internals of the weapon rendering it to an unwieldy blunt weapon
They got the idea from the commanders daughter who was essentially a weeb that was obsessed over human stuff after she showed her father a video of a human cutting down the local flora with a similar tool and protective clothing
The Chainsaw, while impractical as a weapon, does carry quite the psychological component. It's one thing to hold in your hands a snarling beast, feeling the roar of its engine travel up your arms as you go forth to rip and tear.
In layman’s terms saws are better because with a slice, you can hold the sides together and stitch, with a saw replacing the material removed by the mechanism is much more difficult.
“If it’s something more high-tech you’re after, they also come in plasma-based varieties; not quite as visceral but they do make a nifty high-pitched sound going through… well anything really”
That individual has clearly not experienced the horrifying abomination of a chainsaw Starfighter that I had to request the human government direct it's owner away from the Arborialites... I don't know if they will ever societally recover from that...

Hey, where is the second image from?
The rule of cool states: To be cool, you first have to look cool... And chainsaw rifles are cool as fuck.

It's quite another to hear that coming for you

I don't wanna talk about how far I scrolled through my gallery before I said "Fuck it" and downloaded this image again...
Dr. Bright, out down your weapon.
We also have smaller ones for those who prefer 1 handed use in the form of the ripper.

Make sure to always cut off the limbs!
Look, they may be impractical, but by God, are they intimidating.
When we run out of bullets we use the saw as a melee weapon, works quite well against almost all kind of flesh
