I’ve never seen such big ones. The leaves are the same size as the leaves on the 7 foot bird of paradises in the same green house. Have you ever seen one this big before?
It’s really funny, they’re probably my favorite plants to water in the greenhouse because I don’t need to worry about accidentally watering them when they don’t need it 😂 last week I was watering the greenhouse and I took before and after pictures of one of the (slightly) smaller ones because I knew it was going to be so dramatic LOL. I’ll put before here and reply with the after in case ur curious
Looks the the Sensation cultivar, but I've never seen one that big! Has it put out any blooms yet? Sensation seems to bloom less often that the species type, but the ones it does put out are definitely eye-catching!
We have maybe 2 more this size, but none are blooming. Theres also a handful of impressively big ones that are between 1/2 and 3/4 the size of the really big ones, all of which have blooms, but I have no idea if it’s the same cultivar. We only got them in a few days ago, but Ive been curious about the same thing and have been checking the stems for emerging or deleting buds when I start my shifts. If they bloom before people buy them hopefully I can remember to update you, but if it takes a while I’ll probably forget 😅
Honestly just time and proper care 😂 light water food and frequent pictures so that when you think it hasn’t changed you can prove yourself wrong lol. We didn’t grow this at the store, and I have no idea how long it took to get like this or what cultivar it is
so smart to take pics never thought of that lol. but good to know. it’s kinda sad already like some flowers started turning brown. and some leaves are going yellow. i water it when it starts wilting and i barely use any water. it typically takes a week then starts wilting and then i water it
Make sure your pot has drainage holes at the bottom first but when you water it you should water the absolute hell out of it. A lot of people make the same mistake but only watering a small amount every time would be like if you were thirsty and you only took 2 sips of water. Give it quite a bit of water, I personally let water run through the drainage holes but I have a soil mix with a lot of drainage, so if it’s in really dense soil you can use less than I do.
The flowers on the other hand, they’re temporary by nature so they will always eventually die. Also if the plant needs nutrients/water and it can’t get enough through the root system it will start to basically recycle old parts. But multiple yellow leaves at once is def a sign that’s something’s wrong. Also check for pests, you never know
Wooow, I have seen some that were huge, but not as large as this one. Its gorgeous.
Typically if you grow them in hydro/semi-hydro setting they get big real fast. I have one (in semi) that outgrew its mother (in soil), in a matter of a year and is now twice as large.
If you live in Vancouver go to the restaurant Carp in Mt Pleasant and have a look at theirs in the corner it's MASSIVE! Huge pot like 3ft tall and the plant is just a beast.
I've got a big one but not even close to that big.
It is beautiful. I have never seen one that big myself
Spath Sensation, I believe. They’re just as dramatic as their smaller relatives too.

I thought it was only wilting a little before I watered it but it was so perky afterwards. This was probably 4 hours later
A long time ago I let one go a little too long and the weight of the leaves crimped the stems when it drooped and it never came back 😬

I didn't even know they got this big. What's the price on the big lady?
I don’t remember and I forgot to check but I do remember it being over $100. I don’t trust my memory past that point, but I think maybe $110?
i just got one for christmas!! much much smaller. any suggestions on how to attempt to get it like this lolll
