Genuine question, I am just wondering if AI is able to play reasonably with its navy currently.
I like playing naval games but hate how bad the AI is. I bought the expansion day 1 as it advertised a naval focus - I was really disappointed with how much of a step back it was for the AI. After a few days of patches where they said they were making the naval AI more aggressive and no noticeable changes, I've stopped playing, and haven't played since.
Is it better yet?
Afaik the ai doesn't really know how to use the new naval system.
Tbf they didn't know how to use the old system either, but they're particularly bad at using the new one.
It's gotten far worse. The AI only really uses small heavy cruiser patrol squadrons from what I can tell, and they spam heavy cruisers. They're very easy to kill. As South Africa I killed something like 25 Japanese heavy cruisers when IRL they only operated 18 or 20 (I forgor the figure) during the war.

Its now even worse then before lmao. And air ai is just the same bad as always. On pacific AI just deploy wings on islands but refuse to give them orders and use them on nearest regions for no reason so they just stand here doing nothing. Its same for Japan and USA

No. It feels like the AI doesn't create or update any of the fleets they have so for example Japan will send you one fleet at a time from the original ones that are complete jokes (5 CA 3 DD or some shit like that to receive maximum efficiency penalties) and basically after all of those are destroyed, they start combining new fleets from reserves. Which also means you already won because now they don't really have any boats left.
UK AI has a small chance since their starting fleets are kinda ok and everyone else in Europe sucks so hard
Edit: And they may have made the AI more aggressive, which doesn't exactly help their cause when they're being aggressive with fleets that get killed off in a single fight
There hasn't been a patch, why would it be?
The Navy system is worse than ever. The navy AI is terrible and often UK navy doesn't even really defend the channel
