R5: Formed the EU as the Netherlands and invited the Czechs to my faction. Denied sudetenland, Germany never declared war but still took over the entirety Czechoslovakia afterwards.
France is supposed to be in your faction for Czechoslovakia to decline, I mean if France and Czechoslovakia are in the same faction then France always protects them
It's getting more and more that way because there are so many decisions over so many expansions that just... aren't balanced around the fact that other nations now have similar decisions.
Also just weird design choices. I always wanted to play a super democratic Japan. But to do that I have to invade China. But I have to put off invading China to 1939 or so which means it'll just become a slog.
HOI4 is one game I never play modded but I soon will be switching to mods.
Big Road to 56 fan here, I dont know enough about Japan democratic tree, but many countries got fixed or balanced
Makes for some pretty interesting situations or challenges and I feel it’s less restrictive than base game on many things
I gotta say tho, it’s pretty hard to go back to vanilla once you are used to mods
I honestly don't get how we don't see more, "this game is infuriating" posts, because I swear to god this game is literally just rage-bait, WW2 edition
I'm still pissed that happened and they haven't fixed it still
I don't know exactly how HOI4's code works, but judging from the event files, it seems that being in a faction with a non-neighboring country (Unless the UK or France) seems to have little to no effect on how the Czech AI reacts to the Fate of Czechoslovakia event.
Honestly, this game is basically a fascist Axis simulator. It’s fun as such, but the moment you try something else, it’s gonna piss you off.
I mean, my favourite fuck off moment was with The Great War mod. I created a democratic federation from Austria-Hungary. Left the Central Powers and aligned with France. Then I out of the blue got an event “Franz Ferdinand was shot” and found myself at war against the Entente and in league with Germany. So I Alt+F4ed the hell out of the game, uninstalled it and never played it for 4 years.
TGW is VERY railroaded, the mod is made so that if you do anything ww1 will happen no matter what, even though I've had in 50% of my games the treaty of Brest-Litovsk not firing.

paradox moment
I start to see more and more why some people call vanilla unplayable.

Havent played in awhile, how did you form the eu as Netherlands so early?
Being on team Benelux against Germany doesn’t spark much confidence i guess
