  • 💰Herndon Town Council approved a $1.2M consulting contract with Agency Landscape & Planning to lead the Herndon 2050 initiative, creating a new Comprehensive Plan and the town’s first Market Study and Economic Development Strategy. Work begins in December and is expected to take about 2.5 years, with final adoption targeted for spring 2028. learn more→

  • 🏢 The Herndon Town Council unanimously appointed Daniel Hoffman as the new town manager, effective Nov. 10, 2025. Hoffman, who most recently served as Winchester’s city manager, brings over 25 years of public service experience, including leadership roles in Gainesville, Montgomery County, D.C., and federal agencies. He succeeds Bill Ashton, who resigned in Sept. 2024. Hoffman is expected to guide Herndon through key priorities, including downtown redevelopment, Metro-area planning, traffic safety, and tree canopy improvements. learn more→

  • 🗳️Virginia’s general election is November 4, 2025. Early in-person voting runs through Nov. 1. Key deadlines: voter registration closes Oct. 24 (same-day registration begins Oct. 25); mail-in ballot requests due by 5 p.m. Oct. 24; ballots must be postmarked by Election Day and received by Nov. 7 at noon. learn more→

The Herndon Historic District includes 173 contributing buildings spanning residences, commercial, institutional, and industrial structures. Most date from 1890 to 1920, and notable landmarks include the original Herndon Depot, the National Bank building (1910), and the Town Hall built in 1939.

Donate gently used kids’ costumes at the Herndon Community Center through Oct 2, then return for the Costume Exchange on Friday, Oct 3.   • October 4: Storytime Yoga at Herndon Library. Join a fun-filled story and yoga adventure where kids and caregivers explore new poses and calming activities together. Bring a mat or towel.   • October 9: Herndon Community Picnic: Join neighbors at Bready Park for an evening of food, connection, and community.This free event is open to everyone, and no preregistration is required. 6pm-8pm more info here→

  • October 11: Herndon High School Homecoming Parade. Catch the Enchanted Forest themed parade along Elden Street from Locust Street to Lynn Street and cheer on the band, floats, cheerleaders, athletes, and local groups.
