As the title says, I'm very very confused with this and I'm unable to find any conclusive answer to which is better.
I found some posts which claim the post 2021 regular embodys have the same padding as the gaming etc.... So what is it? I'm looking to make one long term buy for 65% work and the rest for gaming.
Is the aeron an alternative? If not what is?
Gaming embody didn’t hurt my lower back as much and more padding
thanks for sharing
Neither is better. It’s personal preference.
The regular does not have the same foam. The gaming uses memory foam and the regular was updated with scrim foam. Personally I like the scrim foam better.
The gaming also has added foam in the backrest. This is going to be where you notice the main difference. Personally I hated this which is why I got the regular. The foam in the gaming stops toward the lower back. Which can cause that area to hurt. At least on me and my friend both it made our lower backs hurt. The regular doesn’t do that so it’s much more comfortable to me. It also doesn’t push you as far forward.
The regular also has more material options if you don’t like the sync fabric. Personally wasn’t my favorite either. So another reason I opted for the regular built the way I wanted.
Everyone is different. Some people love the gaming some don’t. I will say I would bet a large majority of people who love one or the other haven’t actually used the other so they don’t really know. I personally had both and returned the gaming. I doubt most people do that so the ones who are hardcore gaming have probably never used a regular and vice versa.
Thanks for sharing your experience.
Would you know what scrim foam is? And how it compares to memory foam?
Also what is sync fabric? I'm looking to order one soon and I'd be happy to get a proper material
Scrim is more springy than memory foam. It doesn’t really conform to you long term the same way.
Sync is the fabric on the gaming embodies. It’s similar a wet suit material.
Regular embody has a scrim layer on the seat they started adding in 2021, Gaming has memory foam. Regular's seat is firmer and I prefer it personally for siting longer hours, while some people prefer the comfort from the foam.
Regular has no foam padding in the back, and you feel the chair "hug" you , while the Gaming has a foam strip and won't give you that same feeling, but it doesn't feel bad either because of the foam.
It really isn't anything drastic, that's why some people prefer the Regular and others prefer the Gaming.
If I were to try to say which one is better, I guess from the point of view of who created the chair, the Regular is the original design. But it really is not a massive difference.
I've sat in both versions for hours and while I prefer the the regular a bit more, I'd be happy with either one
This is making me feel not as bad getting the regular instead of the gaming lol. Thanks!
Thanks for this, I too like the feel of hug you - is it similar to the Aeron?
The Embody definitely hugs you more than the Aeron.
They’re like 99% the same. There was a post here that went in depth into the differences. I picked the regular because I thought it looked better than the gaming. No complaints.
Same
I see, but there are people saying the gaming has more padding (which makes it more comfortable?) - is this correct?
Iirc from that in depth analysis it was such a minimal amount that it’s really negligible. If I had to guess they had to do something to differentiate it from the standard chair, without compromising the standard chair’s performance.
which indepth analysis was this? And yes, I get you.
I'm just looking for one long term purchase that will do both jobs
The difference is extremely limited but people need to justify the premium they paid somehow. I can almost guarantee they cannot tell a difference in a blind test.
Don't people on here say they've tried both and prefer the gaming embody?
Get the gaming embody then??
Yeah because they paid extra for the gaming version and need to justify to themselves that there's a significant worthwhile difference (there isn't).
Isn’t the gaming version the cheapest?
yes, i have owned both and prefer the gaming. it has about double the padding in the seat which made a big difference, imo. i gave the regular embody to a buddy and kept the gaming.
Gotcha. Don't know why people here are so butt hurt when discussing this lol and downvoting when it's a general observation 😂
I have the gaming embody. I still had to add an extra 1" of foam under the seat because I felt it was too hard and pinching my nerves. It's perfect now.
Dan Ahnestly has a pretty good video that talks about the the differences. I prefer the Gaming Embody extra cushioning from personal experience.
I went with the Gaming simply because on black friday it was the best stacking deal I could find. I think wirh all the various cash back and discounts it was sub $1200 after tax
The gaming embodys have more foam in the back, and can be more upright it feels like. They also come in more colors for relatively cheaper than the equivalent regular Embodys. The gaming embodys fabric also seems to age a bit better because those stripes help prevent bunching(which is sort of common on the seat area)
The cooling foam shit is absolutely marketing BS though. Specks of copper in foam aren't going to do a single thing for transferring heat.
Probably best to treat them as equal chairs on all things except appearance.
Personally I'd get a gaming embody if I needed another, but have a regular embody now(it was free)
I see, thanks for sharing
The gaming embody has LESS colors and is not cheaper at market price.
I'm guessing pricing has changed, last I had looked it seemed like only a handful of colors on the regular embody were at the base price, whereas the gaming embody colors were all the same price, as well as the gaming embody being slightly cheaper
I think the gaming embody only has like 3 or 4 colors anyways
try it urself
Unfortunately I live in a country where there are no HM showrooms and the dealers I found don't have the embody and cannot sell the gaming version.
Sorry the "with evidence" part gets weird eh?
The evidence is someone sitting in a chair and finding that chair really works well for them in myriad ways.
Asking for evidence on reddit is what--anecdotes? confirmation bias.
You want empirically validated research studies? Structural engineering science involving material strength, material science, consumer studies?
Ok I think those were the wrong words lol.
What I meant to ask was - what are the differences, if any between the two. For example, the comments above say more padding on the gaming, is that true?
Nothing that didn’t already got answered in a million other Gaming vs regular Embody threads. Just use the search.
Marketing.. nuff said!
Depends on price and u can choose sync material on regular embody and it will be similar(99.9%)
I got the logitech because I liked how it looked, and because other said it had more cushion. I've had 0 issues with mine and have sat in it for hours without any aches or pain
I tried a regular and borrowed from a showroom for a bit and bought a gaming.
No regrets so far. However as others said I don't think it'll be a huge huge difference. I personally liked the gaming look better but I seem to be in the minority here - and iirc it was cheaper when I bought it.
I think the foam the gaming one had hits my body better personally. But at this point it's really splitting hairs, they really are both delightful.
I having a gaming embody and a haworth chair and they have changed my life
I have both and find the logitech one a bit more comfortable both on the back and the seat. The regular one is not bad but given the choice, I‘d go for a gaming one again. Back when I ordered the regular one, there onle were the two black gaming versions and I didn‘t wanna buy (basically) the same looking chair again so i custom ordered a red one.
“better” in what way?
Gaming according to people here has more padding which makes it more comfortable
Gaming Embody: Features a thicker, multi-layered seat pad with added foam and copper-infused cooling gel, making it feel significantly softer and more plush.
Standard Embody: Relies more on the responsive Pixelated Support mesh, with a post-2021 update adding a foam layer for improved comfort, but it's still firmer than the gaming version.
This is the answer
