She didn’t want to hurt him, she could of broken free, but she would of thought it would hurt him
(And yes I’m aware Charlie had to untie her from the cables)
I'm not even the biggest Emily fan (she's ok, don't get me wrong, just not in my like top 3), and it's seriously annoying the hell out of me how so many people suddenly seem to be thinking she's extremely weak just because Vox grabbed her. Like. She's a full blown pacifist. Could she have broken free of Vox right there? Almost assuredly. But that would require her to use force/violence and could lead to Vox getting hurt. And that's not her role.
She's supposed to bring joy, per her statements in s1. And the fact she seems to be younger than the other angels, including Sera who she's on the same tier as (as far as we can assume, she's been shown to have a True Angelic Form, which so far those have only been shown for Sera and implied for Lu, both high ranking angels), I think she may have been created following Lu's fall to try and calm unrest and anxiety in Heaven related to his fall and actions.
Yeah, idk, I worry I ramble, but I just hate the thought of leaving out any thought pertinent to the topic at hand. Is that a ND thing or something? Are my friends not crazy when they say I may be somewhat in that category?
I think the reason Emily comes off as weak is because Sera has kept her really sheltered. Any time some seraphic muscle needed to be flexed, Sera took it upon herself rather than involve her little sister (for example when forming the barrier around Heaven). As a result Emily just isn't very experienced using her powers for anything other than portals and little trivial things like summoning fluffy animals. When she tries to improvise and use her powers to create new Eggbois for Pentious it takes her a lot of effort because she genuinely doesn't know how to do that or if she even can.
People may point to her seemingly limited contribution to the bubble around the Might of Lilith as evidence that she's really wimpy for a Seraphim, that even injured she should've been putting out way more power than Charlie or the overlords, but the injury is only part of what was holding her back there. The other thing is PAIN. This is probably the first time in her millennia of existence that Emily has experienced physical pain, and it isn't just a cut; she's been mutilated here. That she gets back up and does anything at all while this completely unprecedented feeling is overloading her senses is impressive, to say the least.
Nice attention to little details. I realized Emily was holding back but I didn't pick up on the sign of it from her pulling Alastor free and that even if she lost the use of a wing, it wasn't vaporized.
I'm sure if she wanted to she could vaporize have of pentagram city, but that's the job of angels like Michael who don't seem to exist or be very active in this universe.
Thank fucking goodness the laser only hit one of her wings, not her entirely. Like Adam said, "that could've been ugly". And all that risk just to save Alastor, one of the worst beings in Hell even for a demon standard lol.
She is an even higher rank than Adam, so it makes sense. Frankly I am more surprised she alone could not stop the machine from blowing given how much weaker the other denizens would be in comparison (but then we wouldn't have such a great music scene)
To be fair, she did just effectively lose a limb, cut her some slack. I'm sure you wouldn't be operating at peak performance if someone torched one of your limbs to the bone either.
Look, Emily is a seraphim, so one of the strongest angels, while Alastor is a Sinner, maybe the strongest but still a sinner. So that is logic to me that she is stronger
Tbf she probably scales above Vox and Alastor but just really doesn't know how to fight---it's like giving a young child an automatic gun (they can pull the trigger but they'd probably be awful at shooting)
And we've seen that laser slice through steel buildings like they were jello. So that means our adorable cinnamon roll's bones are stronger than steel.
Well she is like the #3 top dog angel, isn't she? The only ones above her are Sera (and even then only by experience/age) and the literal voice of God, so it makes sense that she'd be powerful, even if she's never had to use it.
Can we, for the love of the hell, stop trying use logic in animated cartoon shows that made in similar essence of other cartoon shows like Looney Tunes(which originally is the big inspiration behind this series, or at least was in pilot episodes) or South Park or any other show like that for that matter? The people behind these shows don’t apply laws of physics when they are making these shows, they might not know or care about it, but the main reason is because it’s by a design choice, this show isn’t made to trying make mathematical equations or measuring angles or other shit like that.
My baby is stronger then people give her credit for

Put some respect on her name
Still held down by Vox, somehow
She didn’t want to hurt him, she could of broken free, but she would of thought it would hurt him (And yes I’m aware Charlie had to untie her from the cables)
Could have*
Would have*

Just because she's an angel doesn't mean she can't sin.
I have always respected our baby and I'll never stop

This feels too lewd for something she would actually wear.
Who's Miami?
It's Mamí, as in Mommy I guess? Sorry if I'm wrong

I always enjoy the people who write full-on paragraphs about the topic. Thanks for contributing so much!

I don't want to armchair diagnose somebody I don't even know, but I'd be lying if I said that thought process didn't sound familiar
As a neurodivergent person, yeah, probably.
We need more respect for Emily in general

Sera definitely needs to do more training with her. If doesn't already.
Agreed- much like Charlie, she probably has a lot of untapped power that she hasn’t learned to fully harness yet.
Yeah, shes an absolute tank but does not look like it lol
Nice attention to little details. I realized Emily was holding back but I didn't pick up on the sign of it from her pulling Alastor free and that even if she lost the use of a wing, it wasn't vaporized.
I think its more that she doesnt have the will to fight violently.
Most likely. I wonder if we will see that change in the future. Whatever does cause that change probably won’t be pretty.
If Emily had Lutes personality, Hell would be baren
I'm sure if she wanted to she could vaporize have of pentagram city, but that's the job of angels like Michael who don't seem to exist or be very active in this universe.
I'm sure Michael will eventually make an appearance in a later season, when things really start hitting the fan.
'BEHOLD, THE POWER, OF AN ANGEL!"

Fair point. I just don't get why people seem to think she is weak

Just because she is inexperienced doesn't mean that she is not way stronger than given credit for. Give some respect to Emily!
Seraphim!! Built tonka tough
Once again why Emily is the goat
Look, Emily is a seraphim, so one of the strongest angels, while Alastor is a Sinner, maybe the strongest but still a sinner. So that is logic to me that she is stronger
I love when people analyze things like these and science it up :3
She got slimed
