Hi guys! I recently started playing, after really loving first W3, the books, and the show. I adore the lore and the stories and the gameplay here is so much fun.
Right now I’m up to rank 13 with a decent Dwarves deck, and I’ve got about 4k ore saved up. I’m not sure if I should be buying kegs now, or waiting until the season change because I haven’t seen what that entails yet.
I’ve watched some YouTube and just been paying attention to the decks I lose the most to, and I’m figuring out what kind of deck I want to build next. I love that there are so many choices and approaches to winning. What I’d like to know (besides the ore spending question) is what, if anything, is worth buying besides the premium journey? I read the wiki here and it didn’t address this that I could see.
Thanks to all of you sharing great content and love of the game.
1-year player here. The premium journeys are the only thing I've ever paid for. They're well worth it for the boost you get in acquiring resources, plus there are lots of fun cosmetic items if you're into that.
Other than that, I'd say spend your time not your money. Playing often pays off not only in rewards, but there's a ton to learn and you're going to want that experience. Watching gameplay is great, I do it all the time. But nothing beats getting your hands on a deck and playing against others when it comes to getting better.
Best wishes!
Thanks, man!
Nah. Gwent is thankfully a free to play game. It’s mostly cosmetics you end up paying for when you want to give back to the Devs for their wonderful work.
Welcome to Gwent. You dont need to buy anything, youll be amazed at how fast you accrue cards just by playing (and filling out the reward book). Its one of if not the most generous F2P games there is.
Ive bought most of the Journeys but its not neccessary unless you are a sucker for cool cosmetics like me lol. You do get more keys for the reward book though.
Going back to the reward book, I recommend filling out the faction page first (I think its the tab on the bottom iirc).
You can use your ore at any point it doesnt matter. I always advise people to go for the ultimate kegs. Youll build a collection faster that way.
I focused on the Scoia’tael Journeys at first, but I don’t like the Elf gameplay so I’m thinking about another faction to focus next. I like the Nilf and Monster options a lot.
The cosmetics are stupidly attractive… why 😆 lol
Monsters is a good faction to start with, White Frost and Vampires in particular.
To be efficient in the reward book and with your ore: - On each page go for the 5 cost story nodes. Unlocking all on a page grants a lot of ore. - After unlocking all of them go for a new page. Maybe grab easily reachable scrap and ore nodes but that's it. - Use the ore for faction kegs mainly. Most decks use few neutral cards. You can craft the most important ones with scraps.
As for spending actual money as others have said the journey is your best option. Huge resource boost with all the extra keys.
