Im curious how pleasant this is to shoot. Granted I never shot 50BMG bolt action or suppressed, but my initial ignorant reaction to this is "ouch." Going to give you a follow to find out ha.
I used to shoot a Barrett M99 for work occasionally. I could never really get comfortable with it. Every trigger pull felt like punishment. I can’t imagine shooting 50 bmg in a modern, lightweight chassis. Hopefully the suppressor tames it a bit.
The first time I saw one fired was in combat literally colocated at my position and it took me a good 3-5 seconds for me to realize it wasn’t a mortar round that hit us, it was his insane rifle. My AG and I ended up putting cigarette butts in our ears because of that thing…. In two way live fire combat. I was taking small arms fire, mortar rounds are land and there’s RPG rounds coming from somewhere but the sound of that thing became the most immediate threat lol
It’s not bad. Especially with a suppressor. The dust bath from the muzzle blast is the worst part, IMO. It’s more like a big push than a sudden slap. My 300RUM is way worse.
Very nice! I’d love to have a repeater again. And a suppressor. Gah! What fun that’s going to be!! You’re gonna love that until you have to feed it.
I had a M95 years ago… Barret was using Kreiger barrels back then, and it shot very well. Barrel started going away, so I traded it off instead of rebarreling it… which was stupid. I have a Lilja blank in my office I was going to build an open class rifle with, for shooting competition, but life got in the way. Go shoot that thing before you can’t!!
Edit: Check out Fifty Caliber Shooters Association, if you haven’t… lots of resources for parts, accessories, and ammo. And a shout out to Mrs. Rita-Rita!!
Hello, /u/CommunicationMuted68. Per the sidebar rules, link posts require a description in the comments of your post. Please add a description or this post will be removed.
What is a link post and how do I post a descriptive comment?
A link post is any post that isn't a text post. Reddit is doing a great job of ensuring new users have no idea how Reddit works with their app and site rewrite. We hate both.
/r/guns is a sub for talking about guns. It's not a sub to dump gun photos for karma. That's what /r/gunporn is for. That's why we require a descriptive comment – to start a conversation. If you're wondering what to write, picture yourself at a party. You're talking to someone you just met and you want to show them your post. What do you say to them as you get your phone out?
I don't know why this needs to be explained, but apparently it does. A comment is a comment. It is not your photo caption. We are not asking you to edit anything. We are asking you to post a top level comment under your post.
Cadex chassis, lilja barrel, night force atacr, spuhr rings. I haven’t been able to shoot it yet

"your hearing loss is not service related"
This rifle is about 10 pounds heavier than the m99
Oh wow...no kidding. That will surely help!

Wow! What's the overall length on this bad boy?
Like 9 1/2 feet and like 35 lbs but it’s got a folding butt stock for convenience!!!
5’9
What’s the going rate for 50cal rounds or you reload? And what’s the rate if reload. Thanks
I just buy Hornady amax which is about $8 a round

It takes A LOT of gun to make a 7-35 ATACR look small, but this definitely qualifies. How long is the barrel?
29 inch barrel, 16 inch can
Welcome to the "put hole in engine block" class, sir.
