• /uj i had to stop that sub because i genuinely can't take it anymore. Maybe i am just a cynical old man. You're buying wildly expensive audio engineering tools that also double as really fun toys. Surely there's something you can figure out with it.

I've come to realize it's a plague in all subs now though. People just doing things without even applying brain cells to it. Like they're afraid to try an original idea out in the comfort of their own basement. Or in this case, think about basic signal flow logic, fx placement and how it might change their signal. Or even basic reading on what pedals are popular in (x popular vague genre)

Even on powertool reddit everyone posts "did i get a good deal on this tool?" like, i don't know dude, how much money did you save and how important is it to you?

I think a lot of the posts in the sub are more looking for validation and human connection than actual advice.

My favorites are the "I just bought Y, is it good?" posts. I've seen one even worse though, and that one said something along the lines of "I just bought X because it was popular, what does it do?"

I sink hours upon hours into research and overthink every purchasing decision, so I'd hope that they're only asking to get validation, because I wouldn't know how they do it otherwise.

You should see r/sex , a guy the other night was literally asking how he can fuck his wife from behind without getting it in her asshole. This is the same shit, but more sad.

Just fuck with the knobs like the rest of us

No one in real life cares about the toy someone make all the effort to click on a website to buy. So people go online to find validation and engagement.

You can have empathy for people who need that in their life. Or you can feel pity for people who need that in their life. Either way helps you ignore the noise.

That sub at least has rules trying to avoid turning into Instagram or FB groups, else it would be daily photos of pedals with pets and whatever.

empathy = pity, really. i think the alternate is actually contempt, where one has has felt empathy but then inverts it hypocritically in a rejection of the resonance 🤓

/uj I really enjoyed the community since 2017, but I’ve been seeing a shift to more of a hive mind. It always has been, but it’s more noticeable now. more flaming each other too.

I’m going to stop following over there too.

  • I collect because I have no vision for what I already have.

Which order is recommended by the American Dental Association?

4/5 dentists agree, Blooper—> Mood sounds like absolute horseshit.

Hold on it’s coming up with an idea

Why does my mom incompetent noodling sound so chaotic through delays and loopers!? It can’t be my playing style that doesn’t gel with these fancy pedals

  • I know the answer but I was hoping to do the least amount of effort possible

  • the ad I got directly under this post in the reddit app is fucking incredible. Like, I donno what order you should put the bloop machines in dude. Can I interest you in a new toilet instead

  • Lawyers will pay top dollar to have their $2500 strats sound like Temu copies

  • Sell the Onward first, then the Gen Loss, then the Lost & Found. Try the order again. If you don’t like it, sell the Mood. Then the Blooper.

  • gain s t a g i n g

  • i have bought three CBA pedals - returned one, traded one, and resold one. now no CBA pedals. each one you have in your home moves you farther away from your actual self, it’s been proven in laboratories

  • Alphabetical.

  • Who's going to tell him he's bought the same pedal in various configurations of softlocked?

  • Blooper > Lost & Found > Onward > Gen Loss > Mood
