Just started playing and taking lessons for a little over a month now. Played my third round yesterday and was so excited to get my first par! Now on to my first birdie!
Oh, I know what the key is, my friend. Itās simply a matter of whether I can hit my tee shot far enough, while also staying within the bounds of the fairway. And if I manage to accomplish that, my second shot often seems to have a mind of its own and goes astray. And if I somehow manage to hit both shots and end up on the green, what happens next? Oh you guessed it 2-3 putt lol
I had a few drives this year that I absolutely ROASTED. Two on par 5s put me within 150 and I was able to put a ball within 5 feet. One on a par 4 I drove the green to 18 feet and made a lucky putt. Mostly its just a volume thing tho. I played probably 40 rounds
Iāve been playing golf with my 2 best friends for 26 years playing ā¦we all have been scratch golfers, weāve had hundreds of rounds in the 70ās, both of them have broken par for 18, thousands of birdies and hundreds of eagles between the three of usā¦..but not a single HIO.
This may be controversial. But I feel that for good golfers, that aren't pros, a hole in one gets more and more elusive the better they get, up to a point. I have three and they're all relatively early in my playing years. Back when Id basically fire at the pin and pray for rain. Now I'm way more likely to pick a shot that keeps me in play, fire at the center or safer edge of the green and try to fade or draw one at the hole and just try to get it close. The amount of times I fire straight at the pin in one season now I can legitimately count on one hand.
This year I think I fired at 3 that I really remember. Two I put to three feet, which I was thrilled about, but if you only do that three times, chances of hitting another one are so low
I got a birdie before I got a par. Lucky shot, and I had no business making it.
Welcome to a really frustratingly fun journey! Chase that dragon! Golf is probably one the most gratifying things I've ever experienced, and I hope you continue to enjoy it!
I kept my longest drive ball. 342 yards, gamble sands hole 18. Has a decent speed slot around the 260 mark. Ive never been close since. Im an awful drive of the ball.
Iām going to be that guyā¦. Do yourself a favor and keep using that ball and lose it one day like a real golfer because no one keeps or remembers their first par.Ā
You know, maybe Iāll take it to a golf course one day, shank it somewhere I canāt find it and someone will come across it like a message saying n a bottle and think thatās cool. I donāt know for now Iāll keep it and if and when I start making birdies regularly Iāll see how long it took me to improve to that point.
I pray you make birdies regularly and can pass that to the rest of us.
Save it for when youāre better and see how long you can keep playing it. If you can keep it for a few holes youāll feel good about it
Iāve done the same with my my 1st par, birdie, and chip in, the chip in was my favorite because it was from a green side bunker and the green slopped from front to back, didnāt even touch the green just made that whack noise when it hits the flagstick and bottom of the cup!
For a second I thought you got your first par and eagle with the same ball š¤£
The dreaded 2nd-ball Hole In One
I decided to keep my first birdie, and Iāll do it with an eagle or a hole-in-one if I ever get either. š¤¦āāļø
I didn't even think about keeping my first birdie ball and promptly hit it in the water on the next tee.
Yeah, my first birdie ball got lost on the next hole.
We arenāt all professionals ok lol.
a birdie took me a fair amount of rounds to achieve š¢
Hole in one is hard. I hope you get one.
Eagles will come if you play enough. Particularly par 5s that are easy to reach in 2. The key is volume.

So youāre saying play 36 or more ( if possible ) each day and I should be golden
It would be silly not to maximize your potential. I just want you to be the best version of you.

I have my hole in one but wish I had saved more along the way. Gonna tell my boys to save first birdie etc and first ball that lasts a full round.
Milestones my friend
A hole in one is always an eagle, but an eagle is not always a hole in one! š¤š»
albatross
Damn I forgot about the rare par 4 hole in one shame on me
You will also keep my firt birdi
