Hey guys, I just moved in alone to a small city (Fulda) near Frankfurt and I haven’t made solid friendships yet.
I was wondering if you have any suggestions on what to do alone in Silvester. I’m mostly an introvert so I love spending time alone.
I’d love to find me a roof with a good spot to see fireworks and drink something hot and relax, I don’t like crowded/noisy places and these sort of things. If u guys know a spot or have other suggestions I would be very thankful :)
Have you thought about hiring an English butler and having dinner? For one shouldn’t be too teuer…
Now that would be interesting
LOL do you get the reference?
That sounds like what I did last year...
The same procedure as every year
Is there even another option?
Some people really don’t know it 🤷🏻♂️
He has to drink for everyone though
Dang Fulda is not near Frankfurt at all
non-german (like me) usually describe a smaller cities by saying "oh it's near insert nearest famous large city"
As an Australian, a 90 minute drive is basically a short trip and “nearby”, haha.
Nah it'd be more appropriate to say it's kinda in the center of Germany in the middle of nowhere
You could hike to one of the vista spots on one of the nearby mountains at night and watch the fireworks.
That would be super fun! I would love to hike here but I still have 0 skills and equipments on how to survive alone in the dark in a middle of a mountain :(
You don't need any special skills or equipment to hike in that area. Just follow the paths.
Pack a bag with drinks and snacks, find a chill spot, people-watch, and enjoy the evening....
i've been on a roof in friedrichshain several times for nye, and i've never really had a good time, as most fireworks will fly close by and explode damn close to you...
of course there are more (also inconsiderate) people in berlin than fulda, just some food for thoughts ;)
Watch LOTR extended version marathon at home or as the other have mentioned already, the tradition of watching Dinner for One.
In summertime there was a rooftop bar fairly close to the main station. It was in a like deserted department store that had a pop up store on the main floor at the time. I forgot the name of the building. But maybe something is happening there.
Niccee in Fulda? I will definitely ask about it
Yes, in Fulda. Come to think of it, that was last year. But still. Ask around. I‘m not from there just visit occasionally in summer to see a musical
Play games ! I am obsessed with Anno currently could play hours

rooftop bars will be packed and loud as hell on NYE. maybe skip that idea.
instead, find a higher viewpoint outside the center. something like a hill or observation deck where you can see the city but keep distance from crowds. grab a thermos of tea, maybe some glühwein, and get there before 10pm. you get the view without the chaos.
or honestly just stay home, put on a movie, and watch the fireworks from your window. tradition is dinner for one if you want that german vibe.
Done.
Book a hotel room in Frankfurt, eat either spicy Szechuan or classic Frankfurt food, then go raving at Robert Johnson.
Mind the gap.
