yes heās able to eat and drink just fine, has never seemed bothered or hindered by it. doesnāt seem in distress at all. and i hand feed him often so iāve felt it many times and itās never felt warm at all and doesnāt ooze or anything so it doesnāt appear to be infected. iām not really sure what it is though so i usually just refer to it as his ācystā
if i could attach videos here id send you a bunch with the coots in them, but alas i can only send a singular photo at a time so instead i went through my bird photos and found this one for u! found 2 ācootieā pies hahahaha
wait really? heās had it for over 4-5 months at least. and none of the other birds around him have gotten it. i kinda figured it could be some sort of either messed up feather cyst, different cyst, or just a growth. ALSO - iād love to see ur egyptian couple if you have any pics :))
omg ok thank god š i got so worried for my little baby Cystopher. i also hand feed him often so iāve felt the cyst thing hella times and itās never been warm to the touch and never oozed/seen any sort of pus or anything, and it doesnāt seem to bother or hinder him at all so it hasnāt really concerned me. also oh my god look at that cutie! i love egyptian geese theyāre such cutiesssss
You're right to feel for heat/throbbing/crust as these are the main signs, especially of ingrown feathers which are an emergency situation!
He looks like a happy chap š„¹ Egyptians were my first love, I fell in love with a boy I called Loaf in 2020 and his wife showed me their babies when they'd just hatched šš
oh nice! i googled it a little when i first saw his cyst thing and i went by the same rule of thumb that i follow for any infections haha. but i definitely keep an eye on it. he seems happy and safe tho so no issues so far (knock on wood!!!). heās a super happy boi! and heās v polite. he refuses to eat off the ground, will only eat from my hand. so if iām getting swarmed by the other birds or im hand feeding other birds heāll just stand right behind/next to me and patiently wait until i can hand feed him š hereās a pic of his polite and patient little waiting face and pose! also - i am soooooo jealous you got to see their baby/babies!!!! iāve never even seen a picture of a baby Egyptian goose!!! need to google that rn
i always make sure to give him extra treats and extra love! iāll give him extra extra extra in your honor when i go tomorrow :) if i remember ill take a pic and reply to ur comment with it haha
they really are! theyāre so cute itās unreal. and yeah! now i canāt wait to til spring! i hope they have some adorable little fluffball babies :) and if they donāt thereās one or two other egyptian goose couples at the park so maybe one of those couples will!
The geese and their other bird friends are so cute!
right?š my little angels
Is he able to eat and drink just fine? Does he seem like he's in distress? Does he seem to be bothered by whats in his mouth?

I replied before I had a proper scroll, it does look like it's a cyst, if it was ingrown feather it would be pusy & sore. He's just a unique boy š„¹
Crap quality as they were on the move but here's them on our canal š©·
