Hey,

I am currently shopping for a new gaming, relax (ocassional work) chair and could use some help, please.

185 cm, 90ish kg, muscular.

I always used the basic Secretlab (and simmilar) gaming chairs but I do want to try something more ergonomic and less tacky looking.

I do not want to go full ergo route as I really value the option to properly lounge in the chair + sit in weird crosslegged positions, which almost none of the proper ergo chairs allow (+the high end stuff like the Embody is outta my budget).

I am also not a fan of mesh chairs.

There, at least to my knowledge, is not much that fits into this bracket. I have narrowed it down to the two chairs above.

I am currently testing the Refine (fabric). The build quality, feel and looks are amazing. But alas I feel like its bit too stiff (both the seat and the back rest). Its tilt is also quite limited. Alltogether it feels kinda uncomfy but that might just take some getting used to as I did not ever have a chair that kinda forces you to sit properly.

Then there is the Libernovo. It seems to fix all the issues I have with the fractal (comfort/tilt) but it is 2x the price and is a kickstarter with limited reputation (Fractal has a great one). I also kinda dislike the tacky electronic stuff.

Is there please anyone that could comment on both of these chairs and whether the Libernovo is indeed a step-up in the mentioned categories and is worth the increase in price?

Thank you very much!

  • You are ok with seat deapth? I find it too short as 180cm tall compared to my secret lab, I start looking at steelcase lamia.

Yes, seat depth is definitely a problem with the Refine, its indeed way to short + the back pushes into you ALOT even at the gentlest setting. I am definitely returning the Refine.

Libernovo is, apparently, not much better with the seat depth, sadly. I would take it otherwise. They might be making a bigger version, or so I heard - asked them to confirm this. Might just wait if they release it soonish.

I am currently looking into the secretlab nanogen version in XL - it sadly has the "gaming" look but is still quite minimalist. Bit afraid of the stiffness of the seat but hopefully the nanogen is better in that.
