I just wanted to give a shoutout to this under-rated game. It's really simple mechanically, you just have to press one button, in time with the music. But they get incredibly creative with that simple foundation and it can get very hard at times (although with variable difficulty levels for people who are struggling too much).
But also, and this is what I think makes it stand out from other rhythm games, is that it actually has a very heartfelt and emotional story. It's the first rhythm game to ever make me cry. Which is something I never thought I'd say about a rhythm game.
It's also just had it's 1.0 full release, so it's a great time to check it out if you haven't. It's overwhelmingly positive on steam with 98% positive reviews, but despite this I just never really see anyone discuss it, or talk about it. So I wanted to give it some more attention because I honestly feel it deserves it.
I'm check it out.
One rhythm game that made me tear up was Sayonara Wild Hearts although the story is abstract it evoked instant nostalgia

personally prefer their other game which is A dance of fire and ice, but to each their own
I bought it yesterday and it is a top 3 best rhythm game of all time alongside Rhythm Heaven Fever and Rift of the Necrodancer.
Some great recommendations! Not trying to be annoying, but in case people want to look up these games, the second game is actually spelled "Crypt of the Necrodancer". It has some great DLC as well!
It is not.
There are three excellent rhythm games made by them: Crypt of the Necrodancer, Cadence of Hyrule, and Rift of the Necrodancer.
Yeah as a rhythm fanatic I've loved rift of the necrodancer. Challenging as hell!
Sequels exist
Yo this game looks sick! Been needing something new after burning out on beat saber. Love that it actually has a story that hits you in the feels, thats rare for rhythm games honestly
haha same, i always sleep on rhythm games then get surprised when one actually does something fresh. the one button thing sounds kinda goofy at first but it’s cool how some games turn simple mechanics into something really creative. kinda makes me want to check it out just to see how it plays out.
Underrated game? It has 21k reviews on Steam, 98% of which are positive.
I openly said in my post that the "Underrated" feeling was anecdotal. That I just personally never see it get mentioned in any reddit discussion threads, I never see anyone stream it, none of my friends have ever heard of it/played it, etc. Clearly a decent number of people have bought it, and those that did really enjoyed it. But there seems to be no great public awareness of it's existence.
I have never heard of it, and it looks right up my alley, so thanks for this post!
I think it’s probably more accurate to say under discussed than underrated but that’s insanely pedantic lol
First time hearing of it was this post for what its worth.
Rhythm heaven?
I've been waiting for this one!
Sadly, my PC died back then so I only have my Switch as the only platform I can play on. I wish it'd come out there soon.
Still, to anyone reading this, please give it a go!
Any console release on the horizon?
Xbox One & Series S|X, yeah. They've hit some issues with certification but they're hoping the console port can be out soon
I had it since early access, it was a very fun game was waiting for full release to finish it. Glad to see more people loving this now :D
I just beat it. It’s SO good. Doesn’t overstay its welcome. If you like rhythm games, just get it. Don’t get spoiled on anything.
Woah! This looks cool! Thanks for the recommendation
i saw it but i dont like one button rhythm games. always struggled with EBA but i love ddr and gitaroo man
