VOTE NOW: https://thegameawards.com/nominees

  • I really don’t see how these other games are beating Clair Obscure. The final boss gets to fly around and do all these cinematic moves and it makes Chronos from the other side look uncool.

  • Clair Obscure 33

  • Counter-Strike 2!

  • If we had Elden Ring DLC as a nominee last year I feel like Deltarune chapters 3 and 4 should be eligible

  • The Game Awards always brings out such exciting surprises each year and I'm curious to see how it evolves in 2025.

  • The Game Awards always bring so much excitement especially seeing which games like Elden Ring will take home awards.

  • No man's sky has gone a long way since its initial launch. Amazing persistence and dedication.

  • It has 0 chance but id hoped kcd2 would have gotten more nominations. I just love everything about that game.

  • E33 should have been nominated for best sports/racing for gestral volleyball. /s

  • I've never watched the Game Awards ceremony before, but would like to do so this year. Sadly, being European, it streams at like 01;30 am. I'd love to watch the event, but not quite enough to stay up until 5am or something. So, two questions:

    - How long does the ceremony usually last?

    - Is there any way I can watch the entire ceremony/stream the next day?

I'd have to keep away from spoilers, but it'd be great if there's a way to watch the whole thing as soon as I wake up the next day.

My recommendation is finding the Youtube video for TGA before it goes live (they typically use the "Premiere" feature on Youtube) and adding it to your Watch Later playlist so that way you can jump right to it after it's finished and you can avoid potential spoilers

It can be 3-4 hours long. Unfortunately you could be exposed to other stuff and spoilers while looking for it on the game awards channel.

Yes it should show up on their YouTube channel as a VOD in the Live section right after the show is done. You can see where past shows are also there.

  • Super bummed that Kingdom come dint not win anything. E33 looks cool and all, but I havent spent as much time or enjoying playing a game like this in like 6-7 years. Game of the decade so far imo.

    They are yanking our pizzles.

  • This year’s Game Awards are EXTREMELY biased.

I mean all the goty candidates are very much well deserved

Obviously it's biased for the people who vote on it. There's literally no other possible way for it to be done

Could you elaborate on what you think is biased?

no sonic 3 on adaptations when until dawn is there is actually criminal

Ah, gotcha. That's a part of it I'm not super aware of since I'm not a particularly big movie watcher. Makes sense that that might be a poor decision per common opinion, but I wonder who the other commenter thinks it indicates a bias toward, especially when they refer to one so "extreme".

Fair enough. Adaptations and fighting game category are trash this year

whereas strategy games category is trash every year T.T

Haven't played many strategy games except C&C so I can't comment

  • e33 is gonna clean the fck up

  • I can believe for best adaptation, Twisted Metal S2 isn't on there, yet somehow, until dawn is, which from what I understand had nothing to do with the games or Last of Us S2

  • [deleted]

Not just other Mario Kart tracks, but a ton of other songs from the mainline Mario games. Some of the best remixes I’ve ever heard. However, I understand wanting to reward soundtracks that are primarily original compositions

Wish I could hear it outside of free roam, since I don't even play that mode. To me, the mode isn't very fun.

  • Ubisoft games where you at?

There's Assassin's Creed Shadows for Innovations for Accessibility. And there's Splinter Cell: Deathwatch for Best Adaptation.

    Deathwatch ain't a game

  • is anyone actually able to finish voting?

i thought it was just the ol internet hug of death but the website is still running like shit 2 days later.

404's, entire pages being broken, literal minutes of loading time when pressing next category.

I have been voting for last three days and I still haven’t finished

Finish? You were able to start? I can't even log in.

  • Silksong better win.

I think Silksong is excellent, but I think Expedition 33 deserves the win over it, IMO. Definitely a very worthy two to compete though!

I see the coe33 crowd dislikes this comment

  • Sonic 3 was snubbed big time. Yall put Indiana Jones in there so there's no excuse to leave out the best VG movie for something like DMC

    Best Adaptation:

    A Minecraft Movie

Devil May CryTwisted Metal Season 2

The Last of Us: Season 2

    Splinter Cell: Deathwatch

    Until Dawn Sonic 3

Those should have been the picks. Realistically, all of them that they picked are terrible. I had to vote for Splinter Cell yet I haven't seen it. However the rest of the choices were terrible.

    Why not remove TLOU?

    to have a joke nominee

  • TGA had some controversial takes before. But this has to be the most dogshit nomination list in its history

Curious, I know there's a few issues but what in particular do you think is so bad about it?

-KCD2 getting snubbed in multiple categories

    -E33 getting 3 performance nominations

-E33 being nominated for Indie game

-Civ VII getting nominated when it’s barely hanging to a mixed score on Steam

-FF XIV getting community support nomination and ongoing

KCD2 Getting GOTY despite being such a niche game is celebratory on its own. It doesn't have to sweep like TLOU2

Ah, gotcha. Those are some fair gripes (at least they appear so on the surface; the only one of those games I've played is E33). I guess when you said "dogshit nomination list" I interpreted that as meaning the quality of the games themselves was low, which I severely disagreed with. But if you're more referring to failures in the nomination process I guess that makes sense. I don't know if I agree with you that those issues are enough to relegate the entire thing to dogshit territory, but I respect your thoughts on the matter.

  • I think one of the biggest limitations of this voting system is not having a skip or “I didn’t play/barely know anything about these nominees” button. There are so many categories that I don’t know anything about so my default response is to click the nominee I’ve most seen online

You can click next to go to the next category without voting though

You can click next to go to the next category without voting though

I thought the same, but you can just click "Next" without voting.

  • So if im being honest I really don't think e33 should've been on indie vote simply because theyre already on goty sound and music vote.. kinda ruins silk songs win..

I voted for silk song for indie

Silksong is nominated for GotY as well

  • How come the new lego Batman isn't nominated for the most anticipated game? The hype is huge

  • absolutely criminal to put FFXIV as best ongoing game every year when they don't do anything new and the current expansion was meh, meanwhile OSRS never gets mentioned and they not only had the best 3 months of it's existance recently, but also releasing one of the biggest updates in the games history today

The game is amazing. Who cares about awards. I'm so hyped for sailing and the new Alan walker song is a banger.

  • Tokyo Xtreme racer robbed

  • When the single largest release by player count isnt an option for GOTY, the integrity of this entire event should be in question

Wilds has been running fine for a while now so I have no idea why this mob mentality is still so strong. The revisionism has now extended to "it was never a good game" which is crazy. Yeah it just happened to randomly break records for its franchise...yep

This feels like an attempt to appease to overblown outrage about something that frankly isn't even a problem anymore

if that was the case all fucking mobiles game would be nominated. Player count doesn't equal good game. An addicting mediocre game can have lots of players.

Damn you guys love to cherry pick the wrong and irrelevant meaning of what I type

Over and over again too which is funny

When the single largest release by player count isnt an option for GOTY, the integrity of this entire event should be in question

Hard disagree. It's about the quality of the game, not how many people are playing it

The quality of the game was never in question, until very recently, when people stopped playing it and mob mentality caught up. Hence the revisionism

People like you are the reason why gameawards and events like this are absolutely irelevant. Because with with similarly ignorant, heavily narrow-visioned takes decide who goes it and who isnt.

For example someone really liked E33 and we have 3 actors there and the game is the most featured game across all categories. Overhyped niche thing.

    Nah

Plus Wilds literally isn't nominated so what youve just said doesn't even make sense if everything "overhyped" is apparently making it in

I've never even seen anyone comment about it, so I can't speak to the "revisionism"

My point is solely in response to your first sentence. I'm sure there are several reasons to question the integrity of the Game Awards, but 'not nominating a popular game' is not one of them. It just didn't make the cut, it seems

Im primarily saying that this game was originally only knocked for performance issues and nothing else, but it's now spread to people saying the game is straight up bad months later which doesnt make sense at all and is very random

The popularity compliments it's reception because I don't think a bad game can just spontaneously become the single most played release in a given year that kinda makes literally no sense

I don't think I've seen a single person suggest that it's a bad game—it's even nominated for an award—but, like I said, I'm not a part of that community anyway so I can't speak to your experience

Yea I mean I was on the MH Subreddit just to see what their reaction was

It was really disheartening to see all the top comments refer to the game as being unworthy or bad. Just a complete 180 from launch, and it's literally stemmed from overblown controversy about a problem that doesn't really exist anymore

  • One how can they even put best esports team up there not have t1 up there and how can you have the best esports player and not have faker as an option

From the channels I follow, T1 barely made worlds and haven't been all that successful in domestic leagues. Faker being on T1 means if they aren't the best team, you aren't getting the best player nomination.

T1 played bad this year but faker still the best esports player

Faker has won best athlete for 3 years and if you put t1 which happened last year itd still be an instant win for them.

Yea feels like they want to give other people a change. One friend did tell me who follows the LoL scene closely is that Faker and T1 weren’t even close to the top until Worlds were they rocketed to the top. At least that was what I was told not sure how true of any other fans want to give context to this.

T1 lost a lot before probably around 2023 around there during a lot of lck's theyve fallen short and during world's 2017 which is why during the world's this year when doran started tearing up after winning faker saw this and supported him because during the 2017 worlds lost against ssg faker was very very emotional but its also because of 2017 worlds that t1 wanted to come back stronger

  • Wow, EUV got snubbed in sim/strategy nominations. No Khazan in action game nominations, either, tho those are admittedly some very popular contenders in an absolutely nebulous category. Also, I haven't played more than a couple of any of these nominated games for more than a few hours... other than Blue Prince and Silent Hill, so I guess I'll toss my votes in for them, when the site decides to work.

    Anno 117 as well

  • how can exit 8 didn't make it to best adaptation?

didn't get a major western release

  • Biggest Snub is **Twisted Metal S2 for Best Videogame Adaption** -- I mean, half the stuff they listed wasn't even well recieved.

Sonic 3 also getting snubbed as well. Honestly, those are the only two adaptations that are not only worth a damn, but are actually pretty damn good.

  • how is the website STILL not working???? 11 years running this show and we cant figure out a website in 2025?

  • I'M HUNGRYYYYY!!!

You mean 'im feeling quite hungry'

  • the fact arc raiders isn't included under best audio design is frustrating

Because it got released too late in the game before it could cook for the people to play it and enjoy, just like Dispatch.

Theres a Deadpool VR that's nominated and came out today, after the nominations went live.

Voters just didnt give a shit about Arc Raiders or Dispatch.

Well thats sad, it's also kinda funny how I didn't even know there's a Deadpool vr.

personally BF6 audio design is much better imo. arc is ok but i have had so many audio bugs in arc i couldn't vote for it even though i love the game

You do realize that audio bugs have nothing to do with sound design?

  • Minecraft Movie being there but not Sonic?? rigged.

Fuck minecraft UNTIL DAWN WAS NOMINATED.. like how the FUCK were they even a topic of nomination... it was literally the worst thing to come out..

It's a shame that the best option there is tlou s2 and that isn't deserving of the win lol

I had to vote for Splinter Cell despite not seeing it, but I seen the rest. Ugh ..

  • how can one of the most awaited awards of the year have such a poor website developtment

nintendo prolly ddosing them for not having them in more categories

They should've been nominated for less.

  • Expedition 33 is gonna go home with a ton of awards. At least they would, if the website would work long enough for people to vote.

People votes only count for the 10% of the total anyway. The rest is up to the global jury (mostly gaming press websites and magazines).

But yeah E33 is winning a lot of those.

So, what's the point of voting?

    An hypothetical tie-breaking, maybe?

I mean 10-15% for the audience is actually fine.

When you have 100% community-voted awards like the Golden Joystick Awards you end up with Fortnite winning against RDR2 and God of War in 2018; or with Hoyoverse games promising in-game currency to their players if they win the award... so millions of Chinese players go spam their votes.

Not much, just so people feel like participating

I'd realized after I'd voted that I had confused it for a different video game awards show that I meant to vote for. Coincidentally, the one I meant to vote for is airing right now.

  • Can’t vote at all, website is not working AT ALL. It just throws around errors.

  • Best narrative Death Stranding?

Quantity has a quality all its own I guess.

  • I swear to God last year was not such a pain to use the website. Completely dogshit.

  • Hasn’t GOTY been five nominations?

  • creators just need to stop making bad triple aaa games, just in general stop making bad video games...the list would be beefier and with actual competition.

yeah dude just make a good game! it’s not that hard.

Dude Death Stranding 2 was amazing, so was claire obscure and ghost of yotie. I think yall have got your standards up too high.

i hear DS and yotie were great. I won't touch that french pile of shit though

It's 2025 man the millenial safe edgy france bad england bad humour era is over

it can be 2080, until they fix their AOC, i'll stay on my bs

"the millenial safe edgy france bad england bad humour era is over" wtf does this even mean bro

    What do you think.

    Absolute drivel

  • The website is total dog shit.

BRO! I thought it was just me I've been able to vote for the 6 top categories but it's just locked now, total garbage. They skimped on their cloud for the site and it's just a slow mess.

Thank you for saying it! Took me at least 30 minutes to finish voting and it crashed half a dozen times.

  • I'm convinced this site was vibe coded on the cheap this year, and every page is making 7000 DB queries or something

  • The site is getting crushed by the CloudFlare outage today. Voting has been a pain. Almost an hour of reloading to get in 19 or 29 votes so far... Ugh

It's not CloudFlare, it's broken in exactly the same way as it was yesterday (and CloudFlare issues are resolved at this point). I wish people would stop posting this

Ok, Mr Cloudflare employee. Issue resolved but maybe not at full capacity? I was getting 404 CF errors all morning.

Weird how “this morning” and “now” are two different points in time

It's been up and down all day. Weird is your inability to comprehend that fact. Read the more recent posts... I'm not the only one drawing this conclusion.

You know you just proved yourself wrong, right? Lmao

  • I've only been able to vote in one category, the website is painfully slow and frustrating, I don't remember it being like this last year

  • Why is the site set up so badly

  • I have been trying to vote for two days now, this website is jank!

  • Is anyone else having problems with the site. I did like 3 votes and now the website basically isnt working

Cloudflare has been up and down today. A lot of websites are having issues.

Why are comments getting downvoted for stating the truth

Probably because, strictly speaking, I was wrong. This site wasn't behind Cloudflare and the Cloudflare issues had largely cleared up by that point.

Im still having issues with the website, keep getting 404 and 500 errors. Been an issue since last night.

Same here. Its probably overwhelmed with votes right now(and I'm sure some bots). It'll probably be better in an hour or so as people calm down

Its been open for over a day though

  • Death Stranding 2 will win in many categories and people will act surprised, but somehow forget that Keighley would kill a hundred people without question for Kojima if asked to do so.

It's also a way for Geoff to split the CO:E33 wins and give some to his senpai.

Let's be honest if you're not a fan of CO then this is a pretty boring list of nominees. That fighting game list for the year is brutal. Monster Hunter as an RPG?

Kind of bummed Tainted Grail wasn't nominated for anything. Really enjoyed wandering around in that world.

  • I'm hoping that since E33 got so many noms we'll get a performance of Une vie à t'aimer 🙏🙏🙏

  • I think there should be a rule that the Best Game winner cannot also win Best Indie Game, and neither of those winners can win Best Debut Indie Game. Normally the best game, by virtue of being the best game, would also be the best indie game. But giving out awards like that would just be boring.

So, let's say, if E33 should win Best Game, the Best Indie award should go to the runner-up, maybe Silksong. And the Best Debut Indie would go to a completely different title, like Blue Prince or Dispatch. But E33 can still be nominated for these categories in case it doesn't win GOTY.

They're probably doing something like this anyway, giving anyone who deserves it some accolades, but as it is, it feels more like tactical voting rather than fair competition, which somewhat lessens the impact of the awards in my opinion.

How do figure that by virtue of being Best Game, a game would also be the best Indie game? If Square Enix had a game that won Best Game, would you consider that an indie game. Probably not because Square Enix is a major game publisher and studio. Sandfall interactive is an Indie studio so I don't see an issue with CO:33 winning Best Indie if it wins Best Game. If a game meets the requirements for the category and gets the votes, then it should be allowed to collect the rewards. It doesn't make sense to stifle the accomplishments of a game or studio for the sake of "Fairness".

No, I'm thinking in terms of sets. The Best Game is the best across all categories, so if that is an indie game, logic dictates that it is better than all other indie games (because it is better than all other games). If we're being consistent with our ratings, an indie GOTY winner would automatically HAVE to win best indie (and in some cases, best debut indie).

So no, if SE developed the GOTY, obviously that would not be best indie, but that's irrelevant. This issue doesn't arise with other categories as much because, with something like best RPG, we might say, 'Sure, E33 is the GOTY in general; but as far as role-playing mechanics go, this other game (eg. Kingdom Come Deliverance) actually did a better job'. But there's no such things as indie game mechanics. We don't analyze a game through the lens of any specific indie characteristics. A game cannot be better at being an indie game. The best indie game is just the best game that happens to be an indie.

I certainly agree with the sentiment, but I also wonder if Geoff is angling a bit for Expedition 33 to just sweep the shit out of the awards as a continuation of how hard he was banging the indie drum during Summer Games Fest.

Not to say Expedition 33 is undeserving or are just a means to an end or anything like that. More like they potentially provide an easy road to tell that story with how much the game stood out. But as you said from a viewer/spreading the love perspective, a sweep across all/most of their nominations would be a little boring.

Edit: Either way, I look forward (a little sadistically) to watching AAA and even "quadruple A" devs crash out on social media about it lol. Personally I find both options appealing for different reasons. Expedition 33 going 12/12 would be a really compelling story, but spreading the love to other games that are excellent works also feels appropriate.

  • Donkey Kong not being in best score is crazy to me. Easily the game that had me bopping my head the most this year.

Same with Mario Kart World. Nintendo overall only having 4 nominations, 2 each for their 2 major games this year, is expected though - I feel TGA's usually just gives Nintendo only a few token nominations (unless it's something like BOTW) - in general these awards skew heavily on a Western bias, with Japanese-made games (especially JRPGs) usually getting snubbed. There literally being a Best RPG category with a Monster Hunter game as the only Japanese game nominated feels inexcusable.

The Zebra song is my fucking JAM

  • I'd love to vote if the site didn't 404 on me every time I try to

Between the gamer hug of death and Cloudflare being down, life sucks for their servers.

It seems like they added some verification on their server, so it's much more stable now (and probably because a lot less people are trying to refresh the page constantly)

  • No shade at Expedition 33, I've heard nothing but good things. But feels kinda bad that they have 3 of the 5 Best Performance slots when Aaron Paul and Laura Bailey absolutely killed it with Dispatch. If they're going to allow 2+ nominations from the same game then the category should have more slots imo.

  • Shame for all the games in the debut category aside from E33, The winner's obvious because only one of them were nominated for the actual GOTY, I think its it's stupid that they're competitions based on the same thing: the overall quality of the games and yet E33 gets to be in both when debut indie is obviously going to have weaker competition. While it could fit that category I don't think it's fair that it could get 2 awards for the exact same thing.

  • How is Ghost of Yotei not on the game of the year list with being the 3rd most nominated game, of which both other ones are on the list?

How is Ghost of Yotei not on the game of the year list

people like different things to you

Yes, I don't mind people liking different thing, the game is the 3rd most nominated this year, it makes 0 sense. Anyway, my deff favourite is E33, I don't even want Ghost to win, I'm just baffled by this system.

Just like spiderman 2 on 2023 having a lot of nominations but winning nothing, the game did a lot of good things, not wasn't the best in any of them.

None of the games on the current GOTY list aren't the best in anything lol

Oh I see, you haven't played any of those so you're just rooting for the one you played.

You clearly have no idea what you're talking about lad, move on.

    Because it was shit

Your take is shit lmao. It was nominated in 8 categories mate.

  • The web page sucks - again

    Issues logging in

Extremely bad load times between pages

Things not loading - at all

It should not take *a literal* 45 minutes to vote on these options but that's how long it took

  • I literally cannot log in. Tried yesterday day, tried now, with all available log in options and it always results to that there was an error signing in.

  • No the website is also shite tried loading it a day and a bit ago before cloudflare went down and it took half an hour just to vote a few times

  • SONIC RUMBLE IN BEST MOBILE HAHAHAHAHA GET THAT DOGWATER OUTTA HERE

We hope that we're gonna crush you again. Never forget the Sonic botting fiasco.

    ~ Wuthering Waves/Umamusume

Everyone knows horse girls gonna win 🏆

  • Notice how cod isn't nominated for anything. Good. It doesn't deserve anything but hate

  • Well I got about 18 steps in and it's down again

  • Surely they can think of a better way to do this. Website is fucking aids and I’ve just given up tbh

  • This is going to take 2 hours with an hour and a half being spent on loading to the next page

  • The website is down. YAAAY!

Half of the internet is down

  • What am I missing here? best esports athlete doesn't have Faker? Best esports team doesn't have T1? After they just did a worlds Three Peat???

    this is a crime

He's won so many times they were like "we gotta pull him out to give anyone else a chance"

  • F* this staged award slop! I hope that Donkey Fuking Slop will get the GOTY!

    What is staged about it?

How about the fact that Ghost of Yotei is the 3rd most nominated game and it's not on the GOTY list, but the other 2 most nominated are? I have played all 3 games, all deserve to be there, if that's not rigged, then nothing is. Also, last year was a fucking spectacle, Astro bot? Really?? With Balatro, black myth, final fantasy VII in the running, yeah, thanks.

He's probably just crying that his favorite game didn't get nominated

  • The fight is happening between E33 and DS2, i don't really see any other game winning, despite thinking they totally deserve it.

Expedition needs to win, story is simply perfect, better character development, and it's a message to the gaming industry.

Im on a 24 hour copium treatment for KCD2 to win, easily GOTY in my opinion

I voted E33 for GOTY, but KCD2 for best RPG.

E33 and *Silksong. The hype behind Silksong was unbelievable and still lingers I think.

E33 and KCD2* Sorry friends, this is a battle of JRPG vs Western RPG.

    Correction: J'RPG

Its not even the hype behind Silksong. They made a uniquely-stylized, lore-rich sequel to an already lore-rich universe without losing the thread (no pun intended) of the universe they created. Not to mention that the combat/controls are incredibly smooth, and the game, like hollow knight before it, was a challenge, and continues to present new ones as you go on.

All of this with a core dev team of 3 people. No work outsourced like E33. They had one outside composer, and friends/family members help with character voices.

Though you already can tell where my vote is being cast, it is safe to say that the two big contenders WILL be E33 and Silksong.

    Neither of these are JRPG?

  • Blue Prince not being nominated as game of the year is a bit upsetting. If Clair Obscur wins GOTY it has to get the best Indy and debut Indy as well, which feels a bit unfair.

Also Alex Jordan notvin the list for best performance in The Alters is wild...

  • please KCD2 win GOTY

  • Vote Moist 💧

  • It's genuinely weird that South of Midnight didn't get nominated for Best Music and Score.
