• This is a sub about cars, not dumpsters.

erm actually its a sub about fucking cars thankyou very much

i would not fuck that car

fair enough, no one would, i mean just look at that thing

  • They're legal in Croatia?

I assumed they weren't so imagine my surprise seeing it.

    Looks hideous.

trust me, it’s even worse in person

They aren't. They don't meet EU safety standards.

But that doesn't mean you can't have them. That's because EU provides a small loophole for collectors, where individual cars can be accepted basically against some basic testing that says "yes it behaves like a car and if you drive it responsibly it won't kill anyone".

Its intended for, say, 1970s cars that are being imported for people who are collecting them or just like to have a "cool old car". But it can be applied to one of these... Things as well.

So Tesla can't sell them here. But an individual can, with a small effort, import them for their own use. It's the same thing the Prague cybertruck uses.

I can’t so much argue with the law but who would choose to import that?

Some people think it's a cool car. A small percent of them are wealthy enough to be able to afford the car and the import prices, and a few of those will actually do it.

People have weird tastes sometimes, and the cyber truck is basically a manifestation of that. It is also a somewhat impressive feat of engineering, albeit the talent of said engineers wasn't allowed to reach the main concept of the car. For example the single windshield wiper ĺ or the rear axle steering are pretty unique for that car.

The aesthetics... They feel a bit off, and the car looks somewhat ugly thanks to them, like a dumpster, but compared to other trucks it doesn't actually look that bad. If I was tasked to choose a truck, regardless of my political preferences (and real world performance of said vehicle), I'd actually probably choose the cyber truck - sure, I find it unsightly and very lacking in the looks department. But an F150 or whatever GM produces are even worse for me.

I the end these things for me don't matter, it's still a truck, and it'd be a hassle to get it here, and even if I wanted it for some reason, I am not wealthy enough for this. My current car cost me less than 500€ equivalent, is currently waiting for my once or twice in a month use on the outskirts of my city and I'm happy with it. It looks good, it runs good and it's pretty economical. I don't need or want a truck for 5 people (and a small payload) the height of Shaq and length of a tram, my Škoda Felicia does exactly the same thing without being a massive ego booster. But some people, even here in Europe, aren't as blessed with taste in vehicle types.

I live in NZ and they are not legal here. So glad.

  • i didnt realise the true scale of the cyber truck until i saw this image. why is it so tall and long?

Insecurity of the creators and owners.

So you can get your shopping in the back. If you use all seats

My kei car could have already done that just fine lmao

  • Isn’t that an instant impounding here?

Not quite, there is a small exception for importing basically collectibles. Like 1960s cars from outside EU that also don't meet modern safety. So you say your Cybertruck is a collectible, they do some basic testing saying that it isn't a danger to the others (so you know, it can brake and turn and it has lights and indicators) unlesy you run into them and you are fine to go. It's not something you'd want to do for a thing like Cybertruck but you can if you really want to. The downside is that you have to buy it outside EU and then ship it on your own.

It is not that easy and most importantly the red tape is expensive.

Well obviously I simplified it a lot, but you can import this thing legally.

Yes you can, but it makes the car ridiculously expensive and is a lot of hassle. Success rate depends on the member state's authorities.

That's the beauty of it, driving this abomination shouldn't be cheap even if it's electric.

  • My children laugh historically every time they see one

  • the cybertruck would be a cool set piece in a sci-fi movie or video-game... but tryna turn it into a production car?!? 😭

  • Oh my god it's hideous

  • I read about one imported to Poland that got registered somehow. Could be on a road trip?

  • Wow it is so ugly. Wtf is it doing in Europe?

  • I’m being a little bit petty, but why does my post about a new car advertisement get removed for low effort, but this is fine? Again, no hate to OP, I’m fine with this kind of post; I’m just more confused by this subs rules now than I was before.

  • Perfect. You know where to throw all of your waste on top of.

  • Cut up some tomatoes and put them on top

  • Ew gross.

  • who designed this ugly car?

The cybertruck design is literally how i drew cars as a kid. Sooo, maybe a kid with too much money.

  • Throw an egg at it

  • What you meant to say is "Saw this trashcan stinking out a parking lot in Croatia", isn't it...

I can't believe how ugly these swastikars are in the real world.
