I have a pacman frog, Kimchi, picture attached. He’s beautiful. For the first month it was fine but now my cat won’t leave his tank alone trying to paw at it and sit on top. I’m afraid she’ll break the mesh top…. I don’t even think she sees the frog, I mean he don’t much lol I think she sees the crickets and wants to catch/play. Any other cat and frog owners have tips or ideas on how to keep her away. Any tank recommendations? Thank you!

  • I had a toad trying to gulp a baby rabbit I was showing him from the other side of the tank glass, the rabbit just looked around

Toad actually wanted to give the bunny kisses

  • I have frogs and hamsters, I have one of these on my door https://a.co/d/fysOZ6U my cat is not allowed in my room, I also use my walk-in closet that I converted as a frog room with a temp and humidity controller(I have a different closet elsewhere) so I have an extra one on that door as well. And then all enclosures have locks with doors.

My cat though thankfully is very respectful of what’s mine and what’s hers so I did luck out that I do not have to worry about a menace lol

  • I use aluminum foil around the edges and atop the lid to keep them from climbing on it. Really though after a week or so of having a pacman frog my cats lost interest

  • My tanks stand is only 1 inch larger than the vivarium my frog is in and situated away from anything it could use to jump all the way on top from the ground.

  • Search for “cat scat mats” on Amazon. They’re cheap, and keep cats from jumping up there. This is how to prevent a tragedy someday.

  • My tank is on a stand about 3 ft high. And it's 4 feet tall. My cat's can't jump that high anymore

  • A squirt bottle. But I’m all honesty it wasn’t a big deal with the frogs because they don’t move a lot or enough to spark the interest. Now my ackies and a few other things were a different story

  • Make sure the lid is securable. My cat was super interested in my new addition for awhile, then lost interest after like an hour.

  • My cat has zero interest in my frogs or snakes.

The lack of interest is returned by the herps.

But my cat is old and if she was anymore chill she'd be dead.

  • My cats used to get on top of my ball pythons eclosures and them throw up on top of it, so I installed anti-bird spikes after trying everything I could, yes including but not limited to: asking nicely, rienforced training, spray bottle of water, scaring them off, and tin foil. I eventually found a solution that worked... anti-bird spikes. No my cats have not hurt themselves on the spikes in any manner. They just dont jump up there anymore.
