Rule 5: I made this pen!
This bad boy uses some of my favorite wood to turn: Lignum Vitae! It's the world's densest wood, and is incredibly resinous. So much so, that they used to use it for ship anchors and the bearings in the turbines of hydroelectric dams! It also has one of the most wonderful aromas. I have paired it with "Kaleidoscope" resin from Turners Warehouse, Conway Stewart "Azure" acrylic section accent, and raw brass trim rings. The cap is fully lined with resin, and sports a gold plated stainless steel clip. This pen takes Jowo #6 nibs and standard international converter or cartridges!
Thank you for looking π
It's not an opinion if it's a fact. Beautiful fountain pen! β¨
Edit: corrected my autocorrect
Haha, well, you know.. eyes, beholders, all that π Thank you so much!
Also love your level of craftsmanship! I'm keen on seeing more stuff from you in the future π
Much appreciated! I'll definitely be cranking out more cool stuff π
Stunning, that wood grain is perfection
Thank you! I love the warm tones in freshly-turned Lignum, but I am really looking forward to seeing how this one oxidizes toward green over time!
This bottle stopper top is about 1 year old

I love the style of business on the outside, party on the inside, with just a little peek at the join. Very nice
It's a form that follows function somewhat, but I really, really enjoy how it looks! Many thanks!
Nice work! I would buy this pen if I saw it on a FP website for sale.
Thank you!
I appreciate the kind words!
Thanks for the link. Those are some very attractive pens! A little rich for my blood right now, but I'll keep watching for sales.
You're welcome, and all good! I appreciate you taking the time to look and comment π
SELL IT TO ME NOW!!!
COME AGAIN? ππ
SORRY, I CANT HEAR YOU OVER THE NOISE IN THIS DARK LAB
Do you sell these? Genuine question.
Edit: looked at your site. I am far too poor. I'm glad to see someone charging what they're worth, even if it's miles out of my budget. You do beautiful work.
As you found, indeed I do! Though I try just to share here rather than advertise. Thank you for the incredibly kind words!
I went through more of your stuff and man. You're talented. Really beautiful work.
I have a question. How do you make threads match up to certain nib units. Are there standardized drill bits for common thread sizes or something, or do you have to carve it by hand? That part has always puzzled me, outside of just using injection moulds to make sections and threaded caps. In an ideal world I'd love to make my own pens, but I lack motivation, materials, and tools. But I do like to think about how these things are made.
I really appreciate you taking the time to look! ππ₯Ή
It's a little column A, little column B.
I'm stuck to taps and dies currently, as I can only have a wood lathe. For less common threaded nib units, I reverse engineer and find a tap, die, and drill bit combination that will work for it. Some units don't have matching taps/dies available, though, and I would need to order a custom set (expensive) or they'd need to be thread cut with a metal lathe. Basically you connect the spindle and cross slide together with gears, which moves the cutter a certain linear distance for each rotation of the work piece. Much more flexible! I will definitely be getting a metal lathe at some point π
beautiful!!!!!!
Thank you!!
That looks amazing! Well done!
Much appreciated! There's just something about wood...π
Wow! This is truly beautiful.
π Ty!!
Beautiful! Purpleheart or black walnut would be nice too. I just carve, I don't turn. I can really appreciate what it takes to cut into it. You his is just a practice piece

That is awesome! I'm not quite as good with my hands in that regard, lol. Carving, sculpting, drawing, painting, all like magic to me, but turning just kinda clicks!
I restore old mopeds too. I love working with my hands

Beautiful pen, the wood pairs nicely with that Azure blue!
Thank you! I will pass on the compliments on the pairing to my girlfriend - she picked it! π
I think it's quite classy.
Wow, I adore this! Been eyeing wood pens lately.
Thank you for looking! Wood is my happy place for making pens π
Absolutely stunning and thank you for the history in that species of wood!
Thank you, and my pleasure! I love using cool materials, and natural ones are some of the coolest!
Will have to show this to a friend. He makes pens and uses fountain pens.
Sounds like my kind of folks π
He is great. I have a rollerball he made from ebony wood.
Woww this is really cool!! I donβt really care for custom pens but Iβd buy this.
Thank you!!
There are certainly a lot of swirly, but otherwise plain, resin pens out there. I keep some stocked for less expensive options, but one-of-a-kind stuff like this is what I most enjoy making!
πππ First time I've seen a wooden pen I really love
Too kind! Thank you π€
So stunning!! This group is so creative with what you all can make!!
It's so much fun, I'm so blessed to be able to do this
That's hot! Very pretty, especially the wood grain against the blue resin. How much for a broad, or even double broad, version of that? :)
Either option would be doable! I have every size of Jowo #6 including BB & 1.5 stubs! π
Feel free to shoot me a DM, I try to keep sales-related discussions off of posts for sub rules reasons
Gorgeous πππππ
Thank you! π
It has a very antique, 1920-30s vibe IMO... Absolutely Beautiful piece π».. .would love seeing this in hands of Dr.Watson, or somewhere in a Ms.Marple case, as a clue..ππ
That would be so cool!!
Stunning!
I was literally just thinking about you!
same!! like yesterday and I meant to text!
Capped, I like this pen. It is exquisite! I like it a lot less uncapped. I don't like the section mostly. Of course, it is only one man's opinion.
Totally fair! Not every pen ends up being everyone's cup of tea π
Given the color and material of the area adjacent to the section, I can't think of anything else that would work. But it seems a bit much to me. On the other hand, the overall shape, the contrast of the wood with the gold and plastic, the clip are all perfect. I own several pens, few with this shape because it is difficult to get the visual and weight balance correct. You have done a very good job and should be rightfully proud.
Thank you for the in depth feedback, truly! I appreciate you taking the time to look and commentπ
I would probably buy it anyway.
Wow! This is absolutely gorgeous!
Thank you! π
That's a fact right there!
Ty!
Beautiful work
Thank you!
This is such beautiful work!! I will have to save up. I've always wanted a wood pen.
Thank you! There's just something about wood!
There really is. It looks so much more personal than yet another black resin body.
This is wonderful. I love the combination of wood and marbled resin. It kind of reminds me of an eighteenth century leather-bound book, with the brown covers and then the marbling inside.
Much appreciated!!
This is so beautiful!
I am new to FPs but my dad is an accomplished wood turner and I have wanted to have a fun father-daughter project now that he is retired. Would you be open to some questions? Iβve been looking at pen kits but I would love to know where you source your hardware. Iβm most curious to know how I can make sure the nibs I like best can be used in the pen (Iβm still figuring out what those are π )
Thank you!
I'm definitely open to questions! Feel free to DM me!
You have quite a talent there. Nice piece for sure π
Thank you so much!
Absolutely stunning. You are an amazing craftsman!
Aww, thank you, too kind!
That's a stunner
Thank ya!
