There is an episode of MacGyver(newer one) where Mac makes one of these by taking two different sizes of PVC pipe, cutting openings in then, and then attaching them to a AC fan unit. It was pretty cool.

I have a friend who used to use one to wake up for critical meetings. He was a chronic oversleeper, so devised the death horn for critical days. It was one hell of an alarm clock. He did live very far out in the mountains of Colorado.
The horn is on the wrong side. It's like singing down the top of a side address mic. It would've been better if you had multiple horns coming from the sides where the air is going out.
My alarm is literally the siren sound from Silent Hill which in turn is my kids get up for school alarm.
It's also the "MOM WAKE UP YOU HAVE TO GO TO WORK!" alarm, as the 8 year old busts down the bedroom door. (I work 2nd shift) π
We live in the Midwest and I often wonder if long after I'm gone when she hears the tornado warning sirens go off in the middle of the night will she wake up and think of me lol. I might just save this kids life someday π

On top of 3 story high poles.
