Grandma uses AI slop to "prove" that liberals want men to do all domestic tasks while women relax

Not every interaction is a zero-sum game.

The conservative mind is incapable of thought beyond binary choice. Win or lose, good or evil, right or wrong, straight or evil, white or evil, male or evil, etc.

    parent root
    6 points porksoda11

Their supreme leader only thinks in absolutes like this.

    parent root
    3 points Oregon_Jones111

Only a Sith deals in absolutes.

    parent root
    2 points Oregon_Jones111

That’s really the only consistent belief that conservatives have.

    parent root
    2 points lgodsey

Yeah, what is the opposite of this? Are conservatives just outright declaring that women are second-class citizens?

Well if she makes a lot of money then what's the problem? Women can be doctors and executives and men can be stay-at-home spouses.

    parent
    54 points REDDITSHITLORD

Well, for starters, it's unrealistic beauty standards. No matter how much a man works out and takes HGH, MOST simply can not grow a 3rd arm with a conjoined baby head. Male beauty standards have simply gotten out of hand.

was actually a stay at home dad... It was so cool bonding with my daughter. But at the same time very isolating.

    parent root
    12 points duct_tape_jedi

Former stay at home Dad as well, I wouldn't trade that time with my children for anything in the world. Even now, with the kids all grown up, I sit at a desk working in my home office whilst the missus is a hair stylist and is on her feet all day at work. I make sure that she is able to sit down and relax until I've finished cooking dinner for her. According to this AI slop, I should consider all of that to be "bad" for some idiot reason.

    parent root
    8 points REDDITSHITLORD

The isolation was a societal issue. We lived in a rural area, and I was treated pretty poorly for it. Playgroups were terrible. The mothers in the groups wanted nothing to do with me, and consequently, my daughter.

I didn't start really enjoying it until I got a car and started driving into the city. There were some pretty cool groups, there.

    parent root
    4 points Anubisrapture

The rural - city divide and even the suburban - city divide for intelligence and acceptance and decent TREATMENT for depression is real. The rural men folk are brainwashed to " suck it up" and " be a man" all that rugged individualism mythology . I hope you are feeling better now. 🙏🏽😘

    parent root
    2 points REDDITSHITLORD

Definitely doing better. We moved away from that little backwater to Houston. My daughter got to grow up in the most diverse city in the US, and I got to make some friends for once!

I went back to work when she was 8, and has had so much more opportunity here. I mean, don't get me wrong, Texas has some MAJOR problems, but at least for the moment, the big cities are still vibrant, fun places. Still, we have a plan to get out if it gets too heavy...

Hey, as a stay at home dad with a two year old son. Any recommendations on socializing. I'm having a pretty rough time. I don't drink anymore and that was my social escape.

    parent root
    1 points REDDITSHITLORD

Find a local club for your hobby, or a hobby that interests you. Or volunteer, or pick up some part-time work at a small business.

In my case, there was an active club for my hobby, when I moved to the city. They reached out to me, because I knew how to set ignition timing on a particularly finicky French engine.

If you don't have a hobby with clubs, check out game shops and get into some tabletop, or MTG.

    parent root
    1 points duct_tape_jedi

I can absolutely see how isolating that would be, I experienced some of that but lived in a large enough town that I could find other groups that were a bit more welcoming and open-minded.

    parent root
    3 points MrMaxson

I never understood why men wouldn't want to be in the kitchen... I get to play with knives, fire, unlimited gadgets, and cook whatever tastes good to me?!? Once I got the hang of it, I was steadfast to my wife that I was now the chef at home.

    parent root
    2 points A__SPIDER

Yeah but let’s be honest, a third or fourth arm would be suuuper convenient when they’re babies.

So, the life men have always had? Well no. Not unless we can get robots to do the heavy lifting. I'd actually just like to evenly split the work. All the work. Inside and outside the home. But leave it to Grandma to not appreciate the nuance.

Maybe men SHOULD! Even when the woman’s working, many men expect her to also do all of the house tasks.

    parent
  • 7 points Sonarthebat

Fathers taking care of their own children and doing laundry so their wives can take a break? Sounds good. Using camp stoves and handwashing laundry? I guess it would be more environmentally-friendly to do laundry that way, but the cooking seems like a fire risk. Growing an extra arm? Strange but it would be pretty handy. No pun intended.

There are similar anti-suffragette posters showing women enjoying their leisure time while men do ‘women’s work’. Men don’t change.

It’s hilarious that the three-armed man is doing laundry in a tub. The way washing was done in the suffragette era.
