I ordered these battery from Flashlightgo. Here are the measurements, capacity and the look of K10. I used Plastic Caliper for measure length of the battery.
Charger I use: Vapcell BL4, XTAR VC8S
Button top: K10 length is 0.3 mm shorter than H10
Flat top: K10 length is 0.9 mm longer
The K10 button is very short and slightly wider compare to pointy button on H10, less pressure on the spring.
The positive top is different showing K10 maybe made by a different company, the warping on the negative side of flat top K10 is more than I like, a bit inconsistent.
Capacity is more than rated similar to later H10 variant.
Both flat and button top work fine on D3AA, I use them for a few days and so far no issue. I will test on other lights and update here.

Bottom line is we gain .3mm more room with the new K10 button top over the old H10 button top.

Really? Any source for this? I was in the understanding that the length is given in 1/10th millimetres and the same logic is used for button cells.
For example CR2032 button cell: diameter is 20 mm and the thickness (length) is 3.2 mm.
They are exactly correct. A 14500 is 14mm wide X 50mm long. A 21700 is 21mm wide X 70mm long. Also correct that the last '0' means it is cylindrical.
No idea how button cells are measured.

I measured the diameter
H10: 14.1 mm
K10: 14.0 mm
Eneloop: 14.1 mm
So K10 is actually thinner
That flattop bare cell probably is - it's the buttons they slap on after that puts it out of spec
Also my understanding. The actual battery is 50mm.
I wonder how many lights are incompatible with the short button due to mechanical reverse polarity protection.
So far it works well on Convoy T5, T6, T8, Skilhunt E2A, H150.
Doesn't work on Lumintop EDC15 (too long)
Are the caliper jaws metal ? How did it not short the battery
It's plastic caliper which is what I have.
There are some carbon fiber calipers on the market for this purpose
Carbon fiber is conductive
You can get plastic calipers. I have one on the way. Amazon is your friend.
Or you can just measure the thickness of one of those plastic tabs you get in a flashlight and then set the calipers to zero. Then measure the battery using the tab as an insulator.
You do keep those tabs - right ?
cancel them metal jaws are always better there will be many deviations in the measurement in the future
if you are buying it for the digital appeal it is better to buy a similar analog one with metal jaws or just spend some more on digital metal ones
ya the fishpaper tabs can be used as insulator would add negligible thickness but in the image it does not look like op is using any
I have a Starrett steel caliper and a Draper plastic one that I bought first to see how much use I'd get from it. The plastic one is surprisingly accurate and has the advantage of being non-conductive for measuring batteries.
Both of mine are Vernier rather than dial.

That's strange. All flat tops should be right around 50mm.
Hank designed the D2 specifically for the H10 flat top at the time and it was 49.0mm
Oh, OK. Did not realize the H10 flat top was that short.
I'm not familiar with that light so I just looked. Specs state it will work with AA or NiMh, which are button tops. So they are also around 49mm ?
I have plastic digital calipers on the way and will be measuring up a storm - h10s and K10s.
The Emisar D2 is not dual fuel, it is only 14500. It was very picky about battery length, hank may have made adjustments in later runs. You can get it modded when ordering, to remove the small spring in the head, if you wanted to use something like the Lumnintop USB-C button top instead.

I know what happened. He has two of them - a dual channel and a single channel. I looked at the single channel listing - it can also run on any AA sized battery.
