So Im doing ny first run of binding blade and Ive had Roy prepromoted max level since chapter 13, im currently on chapter 20. I've heard he is considered one of the worst lords in Fe, but so far he has been doing really well for me, even better than Eliwood in my blazing blade run. So are people exaggerating how bad he is, or is my Roy a mutant or smth?

  • Compared to his avreage stats:

+7 HP (Gonna assume you gave him a Seraph robe)

    +6 STR

    -1.5 SKL

    +2.5 SPD

    +0.6 LCK

    +6 DEF

    ~average RES

Uh, yeah, your Roy is REALLY good.

Oh, so thats where alot of my goodluck went in the early chpts

Yeah, pretty much. Be prepared to get destroyed by the most bullshit RNG imaginable. This is the Binding Blade after all, and you're coming up on some pretty awful chapters, so I can't see your insane luck going unpunished. Godspeed

Oh no, Im already getting destroyed by the hit rates...

You have used all your luck, you have been sentenced to… Sacae

  • Bro is a mutant. +7 Hp, +6 Str, +3 Spd, +1 Luck, +6 Def over the average.

  • Part of why he's considered bad is that he can't really promote. You'll have him as a level 20 lord, and he's no different from an unpromoted myrmidon or mercenary.

However your Roy is also INSANELY cracked. Compared to average he's

    • +7 HP
    • +5 Strength
    • -1 Skill
    • +2 Speed
    • +5 Defense

The guy's BASICALLY promoted, and that strength and defense especially are insane.

  • Over 3 times the strength of my level 10 Roy what the fuck

  • I don't think Roy is bad because of his stats. It's because he has his promotion lock behind a very late chapter and you're obligated to use him all the way. He can catch up in this few last chapters by eating a lot of kill but you already in the end game and it's boring.

  • The fabled good Roy

One could argue he's still bad because he needed the boots and now it's not going to a cav but like

Cmon the fabled good Roy needs the boots.

  • My lord this roy has the same strength than mine had when i finished the game LMAO

  • roy being genuinely terrible is an exaggeration

he's one of the more reliable sources of accuracy in the early game on hard mode with the rapier, being able to provide some helpful chip on ch4 with 3x might on the cavaliers

his actual problems are that he's a 5 movement locked foot unit who can't promote until the last few chapters, and that past a certain point giving roy exp is just exp that could've been given to someone that is capable of contributing more to map objectives beyond just seizing, which is generally why he's considered among the worst lords

  • I think a lot of that comes from his early gam. Roy had a super rough early even when compared to most lords who usually start out a bit underpowered. Even compared to FE7 Eliwood and especially Hector have a much easier time leveling up.

I think Roy's considered pretty decent early game, actually? The thing is either you're playing on Normal where everyone's pretty viable and Roy contributes just fine, or you're playing on Hard where half the party is dead weight and Roy gets floated upwards just because the Rapier exists and lets him delete the occasional horse or armor off the face of the earth. Plus, FE6 is one of the game where swords are a reliably useful weapon type because lances and axes have shit accuracy and enemies have actual dodge rates.

His real problem is he starts to fall off in the midgame because promotion items are flowing in and everyone else is getting promotion bonuses, while he's locked as a itty little babby lord until Chapter 22 by which point the game is almost over, and every other unit in your army should be promoted by at the latest Chapter 16 since that's when you get a secret shop with promotion items. OP's Roy will probably hold up slightly longer than usual because of cracked stats, but would still eventually lag behind since he's capped level and can't go over 20 in any stat.

Agreed, early FE6 Hard is such an "all hands on deck" situation that Roy WILL always be bashing something with that rapier of his. The huge prevalence of enemy axes early on helps too.

  • A skilled Roy can beat any Murdock

  • He's a monster wth

  • He might even be a ninja

  • I'm struggling to believe you didn't feed him stat boosters (besides the boots)

  • Funnily enough, Roy's voice actor voices the mutant Cyclops in X-Men '97.

  • This is what Roy looked like to me when I discovered him in Smash Melee, what a beauty!

  • Wait there's an English version of FE6 on ds?

Nah i just found an english patch and am using an emulator I installed in my 3ds

Oh ok I just had to check. I'm just now getting back into FE after taking a break for a few years. Thought might have finally released this for the west.
