I remember seeing someone on here say that Tellius fans were a cult, not cult-like or anything, just straight up a cult. And as a Tellius glazer, I agree.
I'm just glad Nintendo is making an effort to bring their older RPGs to modern hardware in some form. People who don't know/care about emulation can finally experience these games.
Much better than what some other companies are doing.
Because PS+ and Xbox Gamepass have proven to be profitable. I don't necessarily like/dislike it but that's probably the reason. Subscription services make money.
Also, Virtual Console was not a huge moneymaker. Third-parties on it saw especially low returns, which is why the third party offerings post Wii were so slim.
If Nintendo were a software company today starting with $300m in venture capital I guarantee they'd go under in <5 years. They're carried by already owning IPs
Yup. We now have FE7/8/9 playable on current hardware in some form so people can finally experience pre-Awakening FE. Lyon from 8 is probably my favorite RPG villain.
I wish Sega/Atlus made a better effort with their RPG back catalogue such as the Sakura Wars and older Persona games.
Shame I don’t have a Switch 2 as PoR locked to Switch 2 NSO. Otherwise I would replay it. I’m glad people playing it for the first time though! I hope they are enjoying it. The Tellius saga is among my favorite eras of Fire Emblem.
Good luck playing Maniac mode on NSO, because the text is all japanese.
Also you'll have fun making a 255 crit weapon forge, and the issue at chapter 18 where Shinon does not drop the Brave Bow when you save at the preparations screen.
I was a Dophin user just to play this but my data couldnt transfer over when I got a new PC so I never bothered to continue. I was around Chapter 14 as well on Hard Mode (or just somewhere at the point of rescuing Marcia's brother). I'll gladly replay the game again on NSO
Unpopular opinion: I think PoR is not nearly worth the glazing it gets.
It's a good game, but its dumb support system is horrible, and its story definitively feels like you're missing the actual conclusion of the story and straight up tells you as much. With RD? Fantastic. On its own? Deeply incomplete.
I am glad that more have the opportunity to play it without sailing the high seas or paying out the nose for it, though.
Your second point is barely a problem, and your first point confuses me. What exactly is wrong with the support system? It fixed the huge problems of the gba one.
The GBA system is a large part of the problem, at least there it was a requirement of hardware unlike with the Gamecube, but the main issue is that it's trading building up character relationships for a minimal stat boost and not advertising it to new players. If you're new to Fire Emblem, as I was as first time PoR player, it means you end up getting locked out of both the stat boosts and the character knowledge because you don't know better and the game doesn't tell you there are a limited number of supports per character.
Could you revoke and reassign Support relationships, that would work, but that's not how PoR handles it.
You still have a hard limit in PoR on how many relationships you can have for a character. They give a slight stat-boost when you have them, but you can't have more than 5. This means that if, like me as a first time player, you end up getting a bunch of C Supports and don't realize you've lost anything deeper on both gameplay and character fronts.
RD has the same system, but unlike PoR, you're allowed to reassign them for the stats and they just moved all the character supports to Base Conversations. PoR had a bad system where Base Conversations were merged with Support Conversations, and you were stuck with your unwitting decisions beforehand.
A support limit is nothing new so people would probably know it was there, it was a thing from GBA to PoR. Maybe if you played the new games first without support limits and then went to PoR, you wouldn't know. But the game even shows you how many supports a unit has left.
Also, I literally have no idea what you're talking about when you say lack of character development when PoR has a lot of good ones. Jill and Lethe, Mordecai and Stefan, Shinon and Rolf, Ike and Soren. There's a lot of good supports in PoR. So huh?
I think you need to work on your reading comprehension, if I'm being honest. I was specifically expressing my opinion as someone whose first FE game was PoR and the retrospective frustrations involved. Even beyond that, I hate the arbitrary limit and only give the GBA games a pass for hardware limitations, which PoR doesn't have.
With regards to the second point, my issue that I was very explicit in is that you get more character exploration with Supports, which are limited in a way that you can never take back. It's not about the quality of the supports, it's about how the game arbitrarily hides the quality supports behind its shitty system, which was my main complaint.
I'm going to be honest, I was pretty blatant in explaining this in my first post. I genuinely don't understand how you are confused.
NSO gets people hooked on Path of Rariance, they slowly get more and more dismayed by the length of enemy phases as the game goes on, and then we come out of nowhere and convert them to Dolphin with its wonderful, glorious speedup.
450 for the console plus 50 for the NSO subscription
So if you only want to play PoR legally, either pay 500 dollars for the modern experience. I'm NOT saying switch 2 and nso are bad value as a whole. Only that its uber expensive to get PoR on the switch.
Or you can pay around 300 dollars (based on current second hand pricing when i checked ebay) for the original game and hardware.
Switch 2 version is upscaled to around 900p over 480p, plus the save states if you're that type of players. So that's a plus for the Switch 2 version.
Personally, I will still play this on dolphin since I already have this game on my PC and steam deck with an HD pack and looks way better imo on a 4k display
You're assuming someone would buy a Switch 2 only for PoR, except that's not even close to the majority of people that would want to own one.
People buy a Switch 2 for exclusive Nintendo games and PoR isn't the only FE game on the platform. Such as Three Houses and Engage. NSO+Expansion also has FE7 and 8 available in the west, too.
It also goes without saying that NSO has a lot more stuff than just FE in its catalog of classic old games, so the subscription price is pretty well worth it. And if someone can join up in an 8 person group, they can save even more money on NSO by splitting the cost with 7 other people.
At the very least, there are official ways to play these games now on an official modern platform.
increased resolution... data transferring to radiant dawn playthrough... japanese version with maniac mode if that's your jam... emulators i will always cherish you
I'm playing it for the first time in over 15 years.
My Ike has leveled up magic in 8 of his first 10 levels.
I am going to scream.
Sonic sword go!!!
Dont you just love it when the BK fight is almost entirely dependant on getting a good Ike (and Mist) and if you don't well fuck
When Ike in Smash Brawl said PREPARE YOURSELF! that's what he was talking about.
MAGIC IKE
I'm just glad Nintendo is making an effort to bring their older RPGs to modern hardware in some form. People who don't know/care about emulation can finally experience these games.
Much better than what some other companies are doing.
Yeah, but why not sell it at a fix price, instead of paying monthly for it?
Because PS+ and Xbox Gamepass have proven to be profitable. I don't necessarily like/dislike it but that's probably the reason. Subscription services make money.
But you can still buy PS Classics individually, why take the choice away from us?
I dunno. Ask Nintendo.
I'm just happy to play FE9 on legitimate hardware. I'll take it over not having the option to play it at all.
Because nintendo thinks this will make them more money
Also, Virtual Console was not a huge moneymaker. Third-parties on it saw especially low returns, which is why the third party offerings post Wii were so slim.
That too. That's why we have so many non-Nintendo games on NSO now.
Because Nintendo doesn't like money
If Nintendo were a software company today starting with $300m in venture capital I guarantee they'd go under in <5 years. They're carried by already owning IPs
Because oeople shit on VC way back when for being 'too xpensive'
That and the fandom is still well and thriving after all these years considering how active this sub is

...I still have my childhood physical copies of both Tellius games.
Aight, gimme your address, I'd like to come over and have a nice conversation. loads mag
I do too and I still end up playing them on Dolphin for emulator speedup lmao
I mean if you’re going to pick up fortune’s weave for switch 2. I don’t see why not.
Shame I don’t have a Switch 2 as PoR locked to Switch 2 NSO. Otherwise I would replay it. I’m glad people playing it for the first time though! I hope they are enjoying it. The Tellius saga is among my favorite eras of Fire Emblem.

Or become a dolphin user.
Or become a Wii modder.
Both are cheap/free and doable in this day and age.
The correct answer
I was a Dophin user just to play this but my data couldnt transfer over when I got a new PC so I never bothered to continue. I was around Chapter 14 as well on Hard Mode (or just somewhere at the point of rescuing Marcia's brother). I'll gladly replay the game again on NSO
Is it a cult if we're right tho?
Sorry
Not paying for the console AND online
Love the game though
I agree. Don't use dolphin. You should mod a Wii/Wii u RIGHT NOW.
And play in 480p....
Unpopular opinion: I think PoR is not nearly worth the glazing it gets.

I am so confused. Are you getting PoR supports confused with the Radiant Dawn ones?
I am not.

Either that, or they finish the game and realize the sequel is on a console that isn't even on their Switch.
FOOL! I am a Nintendont user on my modded Wii!
Now we need wii games so radiant dawn can return and I can have my Brom Marshall back
I will remain on dolphin because NSO is expensive 😭
No
☹️ok
Its still an expensive proposition
450 for the console plus 50 for the NSO subscription

I literally bought a switch 1 for three houses and never played another Nintendo game.
I'm sure there are tons of people who would play more than PoR. I'm not one of those. And I'm not the only one.
Not everyone likes Nintendo games and some just like the FE franchise, buts its a Nintendo exclusive.
I've seen serene forums complain about this same thing
The correct choice: 🐬
increased resolution... data transferring to radiant dawn playthrough... japanese version with maniac mode if that's your jam... emulators i will always cherish you
A pirate’s life for me, yo ho ho
Is that the Tom Holland imposter?!
