I initially aimed to have it ready before New Year's Day, but it's okay that it's 10 days late. Thank you to all the customers who purchased my Everkeep Lampost, Flagstone and Lotus Leaf.
The subs are a nice little 'gamble' at best. Costs a ton to put into them, but there's one trip with 2 stops you can send them on daily that have a chance to bring back 2 different types of vendor trash jewelry that sells for anywhere between 8000 and 32000 each. Not a bad profit, but it's complete RNG what you actually bring back. Lots of guides on what you can get from where if you ever get bored enough to start playing the sub game, you certainly have the extra gil to get it started now! π€π
True, I was thinking 'gamble' in the sense that you just truly never know what it's actually gonna bring you back. Kinda like opening a pack of trading cards ππ.
I was thinking of doing that. I have 9 retainers. It would be crazy because I'm already so tired of setting prices every day that I barely have time to play games.
You donβt have to if you donβt want to, Gilmaxxing like a money grubbing Lala is more of a end-game time waster as you wait for new content or donβt have anything else to do. Getting 999,999,999 is a solid achievement, nothing wrong with stopping the Grind and taking a break to do something enjoyable.
I don't have much more to go before all my retainers are full so I am pumping Gil into my neighbour's desires (the only one left online, all others quit in DT for some reason) and adjust prices less often. It still keeps on increasing by substantial amounts :(
Wow. Sounds like some of the people I know on Light. ALL they seem to do is sell sell sell. Your name reminded me of one of them- Obsti. Someone I pray I never get in a price war with ever again. Obsti is RUTHLESS π.
My plan when I hit gil cap is to go around giving people millions randomly, especially sprouts, because even if they're alts they're probably broke as shit and can use some travel money.
I hate this too - 6 characters with 4 retainers each.
I've started pooling some mats in the FC chest so I only have 1 character to manage on the MB. I think I'll start doing all the stuff for sale that way.
I'm at ~900M on my main now and keep the alts at 10M each. Getting closer.
I will kindly beg for a Golden beaver from you and your bottomless gil hole, to gift to my friend cause I know it would make her day, cause she's a minion fiend.
As a Canadian, calling that abomination a "beaver" is insulting. Beavers don't have tiny rat tails.
Reminds me of UK coverage of the Canadian Grand Prix where they insist on calling groundhogs either beavers or marmots. (Marmot is at least close but not the common English name of the animal in the country where this race is hosted). Maybe they call that famous Bill Murray movie "Marmot day"!
I have four characters across two servers, each with nine retainers. I sell furniture and other popular items like potions and food. I never craft anything; I just buy cheap items from one server and sell them on the other. Sometimes I even buy every item on the market and then reprice them.
You have to use the modern buzzword! "Dropshipping" "oh i'm running a dropshipping enterprise" aka buying cheap stuff and relisting it at 20x the cost without ever actually handling a product.
My technic is Server A sells for 100 gil, but Server B sells for 2000 gil. I simply bought items from Server A and then resold them at the normal price of 2000 gil on Server B.
I started making money after the Dawntrail patch because this game was so boring. I just sold things around, buying cheap items from one server and reselling them on another, or selling items that nobody else sells, like items from submarine (I don't have a submarine, so I buy them from others and resell them). I also sell items that people buy regularly, like potions and food. I have a crafting skill, but I craft simple items that sell quickly, like Wooden Lofts, because they make money fast.
and my technic is Server A sells for 100 gil, but Server B sells for 2000 gil. I simply bought items from Server A and then resold them at the normal price of 2000 gil on Server B.
You mentioned in another comment that you're too burnt out from playing the market board to even play other games. Considering the amount of IRL time and money this costs, was it worth it?
I have half that money, barely logging on. I have nothing to spend the money on. I just do subs--sometimes (which hasn't been upgraded in years) and sell crafting mats with tomes.
It's not worth it because you have to waste time setting fluctuating prices every hour, staring at the marketplace for days, and missing out on different content.
But it is part of the fun of the game. If you like this kind of thing like me, it's considered happiness in playing the game.
This. I've lost interest in the actual gameplay and story, NO interest in DT, but I do still enjoy talking to the many lovely friends I've made and 'playing' the Market Board. But yea, the constantly having to deal with the 'penny pinchers', the ones that undercut you but ONE gil the moment you post anything is bloody annoying. Someone undercuts me by 1, I undercut them by 1000 until the item's no longer worth selling π.
I store items in my FC inventory and then have other characters in my FC retrieve them from my FC inventory and sell them. If it's a cross-server trade, I'll have my husband help or use a different account. I'm very grateful to him.
You don't have to have them on different servers for reselling. Thanks to world travel you can go to any world on your dc where an item is cheap and then sell it for more gil on your own server. You however cannot sell on any server that isn't your home server so having a home world with an expensive market might be helpful for that trick.
The retainers are where I make all my money too. I pay for 3 extra retainers but with max level retainers on like 5 alts I have a LOT of retainers, and I sell almost everything sellable that they bring back.
Anyone sleeping on quick ventures is wasting money making opportunities
I understand that part, but the amount of time and irl money that goes into this is beyond reasonable. Retainers alone are 4 * 9 * 2=72(SEVENTY TWO) dollars PER MONTH. This dude is paying $864 per year to hoard fake money. edit: forgot retainers are not ber character, ignore.
Wasnt the retainer limit thing applied to all characters rather than per character? Pretty sure my other chars on the same acct had them.
Im not sure if the market listings in particular stay, but you can buy them prorated towards the end of the month, use them for a couple days and cancel. I do that for storage purposes.. only hassle is you can only do that once a month :p
Yeah I was surprised to discover that buying extra retainers applied to every character you had, so if you have alts, that could potentially be a lot of retainers for the cost of a couple. Like me, I pay for 3, I have 30
I agree with what you said, but that was in the beginning when I spent 9 retainers to generate in-game currency. After 3 months, I was only using 4 retainers per character.
But I also want to mention that while it's true you can have 9 retainers per character, the first 2 retainers are free. You only pay for the remaining 7.
Now that I've reached the maximum in-game currency, I don't need retainers anymore. Currently, I only use 2 retainers per character.
* 7 Retainers each cost $2/month for a total of $14.00. This is account wide so all characters on this account will have a total of 9 retainers.
* 1 retainer with app. $5/month. OP does not have this I assume.
He likely has 2 accounts. One to trade. This does not need the extra retainers. Once he trades he can place it in FC to transfer it to his account with all the retainers.
So it would only cost $14.00 in this case. Add in the cost of the 2nd account on the basic sub it would be still be under $26/month.
I have the above setup but for a different reason. I do not care much for gil but like crafting, gathering, and going after mounts and pets.
Ask Musk, Gates, and every other billionaire in the world π€·ββοΈ. Some people are just wired that way. Gotta have it all so nobody else can. Tho moot point in game since gil is literally an unlimited resource.
I mostly sell items that are sourced from submarines, but I don't own a submarine, so I buy them from others and then resell them at a high price. For best-selling furniture, I look at the sales history to see which items are bought most frequently each day, such as Wooden Loft furniture.
No, it's not possible because you need to add friends first, and you can only send emails within the same server. You can't send emails across different servers.
That was in the early days when I was trying to save money. Later, I was limited to two retainers per character, and no more than eight characters per data center, because my money had already reached the maximum limit in the game.
Not them but I just play the game regularly and have over 2 billion gil. I've gotten 310 mil from occult crescent and pilgrim's from selling drops and I don't even have particularly good luck with it. I barely even bother crafting/gathering these days.
I did everything to save money at first. Spending money on teleportation was very wasteful, so I went hunting boss and used the points I earned to buy free teleportation tickets.
It's saving you 2 million gil per thousand teleports maximum assuming every teleport is a 2000 gil cross planet tp. I do have the aetheryte tickets, I've set them to take effect on tps 500 gil and up. It's a casual little thing to not waste gil, sure. It will take me at least 6 months to go through a full stack of 999.
In that time you could make over 10 million gil on levequest turn ins alone. Hell, you can make 1.3 million in that time on one daily Expert roulette, without adventurer in need or selling any items therein to a vendor.
It's a pittance on actually getting to gil cap. If you read the rest of the thread he reaches it by manipulating the market. Buy low resell high. You know, only making things cost more for everyone else.
I'm not saying this as a broke person upset, I have earned well over 200 million gil this expansion without manipulating the market. I'm saying that that particular advice won't do crap lol.
For the tickets, I have to say it depends a lot on what content you do. For someone doing Hunt marks (for the mounts/titles) 150-200 teleports a day ain't that much.
Now about the market manipulation... I kinda gotta agree with you: that's only for people who are earning crumbs. Real money earners won't ever resort to such strategy in order to gain much more expressive amounts of gil.
I started making money after the Dawntrail patch because this game was so boring. I just sold things around, buying cheap items from one server and reselling them on another, or selling items that nobody else sells, like items from submarine (I don't have a submarine, so I buy them from others and resell them). and my technic is Server A sells for 100 gil, but Server B sells for 2000 gil. I simply bought items from Server A and then resold them at the normal price of 2000 gil on Server B.
Amen yo. I can't wait to hit my 999,999,999 just so I can mentally check out and forget about gil hording finally. That's my goal and I'm sticking to it!
What are the odds of seeing this post RIGHT after seeing somebody on twitter post about hitting almost gil cap on all their retainers lol. Grats though
Well done! I did that too during the ShB raid tier gearups. I'd sell 5 or 6 raid gear sets and cap out my gil. I'd move it to a retainer and do it again the next day. I'm still playing on that absolute mountain of gil I made back then. I think I still have 4 or 5 billion on retainers and alts.
What's the best way to approach this? I've often wondered how much effort folks need to put in to achieve this. If I just need to craft more, I shouldn't have too much problem since I'm a pentamelded omnicrafter, I've just mostly done it for my and my wife's crafting needs, not really for selling many things.
Just how?
I look up methods but just none of them work for me, no FC and I rarely do EX or savage since I donβt have a group to play with, which also kicks out treasure maps.
You can post pf for treasure maps. But it says they did this mostly by playing the market board, so buying low on one server and selling high at home, buying everything of one item to resell for higher, that type of stuff
I made 100 million gil from Occult Crescent then I realized there is either nothing to actually buy or the stuff that I did want to buy would just leave me with less of a reason to do the content that stuff drops from so my ambition to get rich ended there lol.
All you need to do now is stuff that in a retainer and do it all over again, Twice over, and you will be equal to my friend who has an army of submarines.
Like how people show off max gil. Wonβt ever say how to get it. Goes alongside all of those clickbait YouTube videos showing you how to rake in the Gil.
Congrats!!! I'm only 20 million away from hitting that myself and I can't wait π. Only took me 11 years >.<. But I look forward to it. Been looking for a reason to finally just give up on the game since I've lost all interest in the actual gameplay and story anymore. SE's just not the same as it used to be IMHO, and it shows in 14/15/16. With this goal I can finally just move on and enjoy the 2000 or so games on my steam library πππ. Might stay subbed just for friends since they're the only reason I play- the social aspect. $25 a month isn't bad to have at least SOME kind of social life ππ.
Nice! Im only at 310million. Dawntrail took the wind outta my sales with all the negativity. Was doing good for awhile mass buying all materia and jacking the prices xD
I have a crafting skill, but I craft simple items that sell quickly, like Wooden Lofts, because they make money fast.
i know how to make a decent chunk of gil but lately my markets have crashed and are over crowded. iβm trying to find new ways to earn more gil. if youβd be interested in teaching, please message me
Only another 970 million and I'll be completely caught up to you!
I wish you success in achieving it soon.
I'm leveling my submarine fleet day by day! Which is not a sentence I ever expected to say.
I've never used a submarine before. I don't know how it works. I just buy them and resell them.
Lots of guides on what you can get from where if you ever get bored enough to start playing the sub game, you certainly have the extra gil to get it started now! π€π
its not a gamble, at least not in the sense that u can lose gil with it.
True, I was thinking 'gamble' in the sense that you just truly never know what it's actually gonna bring you back. Kinda like opening a pack of trading cards ππ.
While it is RNG it averages out to over 400k every 21 hours. The prep is very long but once you're set up, it's a passive 3m gil per week. It's great.
Now give your Gil to your retainers until you all have maximum Gil. The Grind Never Ends
I was thinking of doing that. I have 9 retainers. It would be crazy because I'm already so tired of setting prices every day that I barely have time to play games.
You donβt have to if you donβt want to, Gilmaxxing
like a money grubbing Lalais more of a end-game time waster as you wait for new content or donβt have anything else to do. Getting 999,999,999 is a solid achievement, nothing wrong with stopping the Grind and taking a break to do something enjoyable. After gil capping I decided to try raiding, best pivot decision.
I'm a lala and I approve this message π
u have all the gils, just price everything at 1gil and completely disrupt the market hahaha. (this is the true end game)
You're evil π
Oh that is pure demonic π.
I consider marketboard PvP as a jolly exercise in psychological warfare and subterfuge, so that sounds about right.
My plan when I hit gil cap is to go around giving people millions randomly, especially sprouts, because even if they're alts they're probably broke as shit and can use some travel money.
I wish I was your neighbour my desires is to be a gillionaire with a few billion in my pocket on my road to max. :3
I saw a screenshot a few years ago from someone who had done this
(crafter voice) you should start day1 raiding
I hate this too - 6 characters with 4 retainers each.
I've started pooling some mats in the FC chest so I only have 1 character to manage on the MB. I think I'll start doing all the stuff for sale that way.
I'm at ~900M on my main now and keep the alts at 10M each. Getting closer.
Try without marketboard for a month. It was liberating for me and I could finally play the game.
Now purchase a Golden Beaver minion. Preferably the cheapest of Midgarsommor.
I had it a long time ago and have worn it ever since. It's my lucky minion. ^_^
Drat. My friend is trying to sell that beaver to afford a home/server transfer
How does gil help afford a server transfer...? You can't sell gil for money or pay for a transfer with it (TOS-wise)
Presumably they mean to have enough gil in the bank to buy a house on their new server and furnish it.
That is correct!
Selling beaver is THAT profitable? I'm in the wrong business! π
Pretty sure there's some law against a Lala selling beaver
I'm glad I wasn't having a drink when I read that, my monitor would have been covered in coffee πππππ.
Maybe they call that famous Bill Murray movie "Marmot day"!
my friend claimed when he got it in a treasure map instead of selling it :(
I did the same and I donβt regret it for a second! Love that lil guy, heβs been following me around for 5 years
Whats your secret to making so much gil?
I have four characters across two servers, each with nine retainers. I sell furniture and other popular items like potions and food. I never craft anything; I just buy cheap items from one server and sell them on the other. Sometimes I even buy every item on the market and then reprice them.
IRL Lolorito
So basically late stage capitalism XD
This lolol. Role-playing the worst aspects of our society xD

Nah, that would be buying all of the job stones and then renting them out to people.
Bruh
I have to ask: why?
Bro is the giga chad trader merchant npcs wish they could be
How do you trade between chars? Do you have a trustworthy proxi friend?
I store items in my FC inventory and then have other characters in my FC retrieve them from my FC inventory and sell them. If it's a cross-server trade, I'll have my husband help or use a different account. I'm very grateful to him.
they probably have two service accounts which allows you to trade between characters
Probably have them all in the same FC. Thats what I do and then just place everything in the FC chest
But then you are limited to one server. He stated that he is doing business in two of them π
You don't have to have them on different servers for reselling. Thanks to world travel you can go to any world on your dc where an item is cheap and then sell it for more gil on your own server. You however cannot sell on any server that isn't your home server so having a home world with an expensive market might be helpful for that trick.
Thats why he has his chars on 2 different servers to sell on different markets.
The retainers are where I make all my money too. I pay for 3 extra retainers but with max level retainers on like 5 alts I have a LOT of retainers, and I sell almost everything sellable that they bring back.
Anyone sleeping on quick ventures is wasting money making opportunities
All that time and effort to just hoard money and not spend it, why?
It's just another thing to do and collect. Some people raid, some people craft, some people do side content, some people make gil.
I understand that part, but the amount of time and irl money that goes into this is beyond reasonable.
Retainers alone are 4 * 9 * 2=72(SEVENTY TWO) dollars PER MONTH. lol used to do this in WoW 20 years ago, some things don't change
Bruh I have 300mil that I made using my one character and his retainers and I feel so stupid right now. Time to make some alts lmao.
how do you find out what is selling the most on your data center? I want to get into the furniture game butt he game has so much furniture!
I mostly sell items that are sourced from submarines, but I don't own a submarine, so I buy them from others and then resell them at a high price. For best-selling furniture, I look at the sales history to see which items are bought most frequently each day, such as Wooden Loft furniture.
thank youuu
Hate it, but it works π.
i am headcanoning you as part of the Ul'dahn Syndicate rn
Jesus christ, 28 extra retainers?
I mourn for your irl wallet
So, basically, you waste real money to make a bunch of fake money?
Oh well, to each their own.
How do you enjoy the game?
You can mail to yourself across servers? With you buying low on one server and selling on another ?
No, it's not possible because you need to add friends first, and you can only send emails within the same server. You can't send emails across different servers.
You should had more characters and less retainers, cheaper that way. I wonder how active retainer makes in a week?Β
That was in the early days when I was trying to save money. Later, I was limited to two retainers per character, and no more than eight characters per data center, because my money had already reached the maximum limit in the game.

Now you just need to complete that goal of giving me a small loan of 100,000,000 Gil. Thanks. βΊοΈ
hey they should do this irl
Oh my God, I really want to do this, playing the stock market. I wish I could get rich in real life like in the game. LOL
Think all of us wish that. But sadly most of us don't have insider tips like those who do it successfully do π.
Damn, when is it gonna start trickling down to me??
You should commemorate now by giving me half of it!
When I still played, I donβt know why I was like always stuck under 10 mil
I did everything to save money at first. Spending money on teleportation was very wasteful, so I went hunting boss and used the points I earned to buy free teleportation tickets.
This feels like the equivalent of "you millennials need to stop buying avocado toast, then you can afford a home."
I mean he capped his Gil with that attitude so maybe they're right π€·ββοΈ
It's saving you 2 million gil per thousand teleports maximum assuming every teleport is a 2000 gil cross planet tp. Now do it on retainer limit on all retainers.
Spare a homie some gil.
May I ask of a small loan of 50million gil
hey if you ever need to offload some gil I know a guy who could use a few jet black dyes (me, it's me, i'm that guy)
Are all your retainers maxed out too? If not, you still have room.
Now max out your retainers
That's enough for me now. I'm so tired of constantly setting volatile prices for the past few years. I need to rest T_T
Amen yo. I can't wait to hit my 999,999,999 just so I can mentally check out and forget about gil hording finally. That's my goal and I'm sticking to it!

still way to poor to buy the bunny-blessed title :D
That's my dream title.
The kind of alert I will never see poping on my screen π₯Ή
And here i am living on 200k
How π I've played for 4 years now and I have a total of 5m gil
youβre doing better than me! iβve played 10 years and have about 6m across my 2 main accounts
HII GOHAN!! this is moo from materia. Congrats on reaching your goal!! :D
Hey! thx you so much ^_^
I have 1 million Gil to my name, then I see this π
"What is this, some sort of error message for the poors that I'm too rich to understand?"
Lala?
I'm a female Viera.
Way to ruin the greedy lala stereotype π. Just say you're a lala in a bunny suit! ππ
And here i am struggling to get 50 mil π₯² Congrats tho
Gimme
Even Final Fantasy believes billionaires shouldn't exist.
How did you achieve this can you share some tips?
You can reread the tips I've posted in the comments below.
Congrats!! Iβve been on the gilcap grind for a while as well, just cracked 700mil today. I hope to join you soon!
Congrats! I'm not sure how people do it. Playing the MB isn't my thing and crafting/gathering on yields me so much.
Welcome to the bigillionare club friend
Grats on reaching your milestone! π
How? I have chronically 80,000-300,000 gil to my name
Well. I feel inadequate now.
Grats, friend
Meanwhile im broke...
Now what do you invest it in to make more room for Gil
Ultimate power move would be to now randomly give a 1mil to unsuspecting players and walk away saying nothing like the dr pepper guy
Wow, I'm about 998 million behind.π€£
Can you give me the excess so me and my wife can buy a house? Lmao I can't afford in game or in real life π
Sir, could you spare a mil or twoπ’
Grats! I did this a month ago and it was such a feeling of achievement and relief. Going on a spending spree now?
Good job!
(Hides the twiiter post of a guy that spent ten years getting 100 billion)
I made 100 million gil from Occult Crescent then I realized there is either nothing to actually buy or the stuff that I did want to buy would just leave me with less of a reason to do the content that stuff drops from so my ambition to get rich ended there lol.
And itβs crazy because thereβs people with max limit on retainers AND alts
Damn dudeβ¦ Iβve got likeβ¦ a million lol
Dudes got more money than the guy who owns the gold saucer.
All you need to do now is stuff that in a retainer and do it all over again, Twice over, and you will be equal to my friend who has an army of submarines.
β¦god.
But what about your retainers???
So the secret is having a billion retainers that you have to pay real-world money to have? Meanwhile only has 2 retainers but is fine with that.
Awesome! After 2 years and 1 small sized house, I am only 994 million away from reaching my goal
Like how people show off max gil. Wonβt ever say how to get it. Goes alongside all of those clickbait YouTube videos showing you how to rake in the Gil.
Now you just need to hit it on all your retainers tooo hahaha. Then in multiple chars. Number must go up.
What kinda slavery did you have to do to get that much gil?!? How many Lalafell sweatshops do you have!
The R'fengari Luna back pocket fund will gladly accept donations x3
Legit tho nice job
Gimme
Buy me air bike plox
Nice! Im only at 310million. Dawntrail took the wind outta my sales with all the negativity. Was doing good for awhile mass buying all materia and jacking the prices xD
Bro really said "only" 310million like i wasn't at 13m rn
DoW/M materia is given to you like candy and can be gotten in batches from other content like hunts and whatnot, those people are suckers
Now crafting and gathering materia, yeah I can see that one lol
But I only started saving money during the expansion Dawntrail.
Now do a 20 million gil give away to 10 lucky redditors :V
If you could kindly spare some gil so this one can finish apartment decoration, please and thank you <333
Yeah, seems sus
Well done. Your next goal is to share some with me lol
[deleted]
One away from being a BaGILionair.
Now give it to your retainer and do it again.
Equips Soul of the Machinist Greetings , I come to Liberate the Gil out of your Pocket οΌβΉβ‘βΉοΌ.
Now cap the gil on all retainers too.
Hey Iβm your old friend really in need of Gil!
Hey can I have some I have 908 gil
ill apply as a retainer pls. Need gil For teleport
gasps I still need around 798 million!
I hate that message π
Are all 10 retainers fully gil capped? If not, I'm afraid I got some bad news
max on one character is 11 billion.. you're 1/11th of the way, keep going. 12 if you count FC chest.
Damn. I just been beating cloud of darkness ass until she gives me her wig or a mount. I have nowhere near that much .
Lemme get a Gil!!π€£
Lend me some plz, cant afford to teleportp
i have 500k gil
Fantasy Capitalism Final Boss. You're the Eorzean Equivilant of Jeff Bezos. Do you have lalafell factories.
This is adorable that you think this is the gil limit.
Also, do you realize there are people that earn this much gil every month, if not faster?
Source: Will personally earn this much gil in the next 35 days.
i know how to make a decent chunk of gil but lately my markets have crashed and are over crowded. iβm trying to find new ways to earn more gil. if youβd be interested in teaching, please message me
Feel free to send excess Gil over to me ;)
Gib me money pls
Now stash it on a retainer. Your next goal is the absolutely max out the amount of Gil a character can have access to.
Afterward, make 7 more characters, and do the same.
Once you're done with that, move on to other servers in your DC.
Then fill out all the other DCs.
Then, and only then, will you be allowed to die.
Oh, and don't forget that you can have 10 retainers per character.
Only 999799999 gil left for me
And 20$
Congrats! I remember my first cap! Before you know it you'll be at your second, and third! I was able to pull almost 2 gil caps this patch alone
