Just discovered this sub and you're ready to tell us how awesome we are?

This is the time and this is the place.

  • I’ve been making some poor choices surrounding treats at work. So today I went out for my “long run” not exactly sure how long it would be, and kept getting psyched up for the next milestone along the way. Ended up doing just a hair over a half marathon distance at a decent pace. I think I’m gonna make some more of those treat choices at the office tomorrow.

Might help to define for yourself what a treat is.

Most "treats" are low quality, high fat, high sugar foods without any complexity or nuance.

If you identify amazing treats for yourself, you can resist everything else around you.

ex. I've had and made amazing croissants, cookies, chocolate and cakes.

Makes everything else easy to pass up. I just think of the best versions and switch off everything else.

  • I went for a long walk this morning with my best friend. 8.75 miles talking the whole time. Not particularly fast since she'd forgotten to put her custom inserts in her new shoes (but didn't start feeling the effects of not wearing them until we turned around to head back the way we'd come of course) and we stopped regularly for her to stretch things out on the way back. Still, it was a gorgeous day and now I only need 12.1 miles of walking and running to have officially walked/run 1,000 miles this year.

...I really need to get myself new shoes though. Both of my pairs are over 600 miles in.

After my 5k training program run yesterday I decided to switch the goal for the program on my Garmin from to just be able to run the whole thing to being able to run it in a 12:00 mile pace. That change has definitely increased my training load which I'm not thrilled about but at the same time it'll be my fifth straight time running this race (and last time since we're moving internationally this summer) with my best friend. I want to do better than previous years.

Don't know your expertise level, but my 5k program trained us for 8k to make the 5 easy. It also alternated walk and run in changing proportions to improve our endurance.

My 10k program included hill training which is not fun ti do but when you run a race? Wow! It's amazing.

    Best of luck.

I dabble in running, my hypermobility can mess with my running form at times. I prefer rowing overall but I've gone to this race since the first year, and I would like to improve at it for my last year here in town.

  • all of my skirts are really loose now. i can still wear them, they don't fall off, but instead of it sitting right at my waist, it's just above my hips, n i can comfortably pull them down to my hip bones. theyre all high waisted n super short, so theres not that much length anyway

i had a meal at a cafe, i ordered a side of chips, n it was like a full meals worth, not a light snack like i was expecting. so glad i didnt order anything to go w them. i finished them n didnt feel like i was dying, but i was so confused by the portion sizing.

like, im not in america or anything, but do ppl really just eat that much n we're just that accustomed to it? the full meals everyone ordered looked massive to me, but no one had problems finishing it

Chips (assuming the British meaning) easily double a meal's calories with a small portion. Check out their calorie counts for a real shock.

  • I saw a jumpsuit I really liked and the only 2 left were medium or large. I went against my instincts to pick the large, went with the medium instead and it fit perfectly 🙌 It's so difficult to see myself as average and not big anymore but I'm getting there!

  • i weighed myself for the first time in a couple of months yesterday and discovered that i've officially lost 50 lbs in the last year!

this time last year i was deeply uncomfortable and unhappy after having a really hard time with cico and then trying a couple of other medications for pre-diabetes and weight loss. i'm so glad i pulled the trigger on trying a glp-1 and stuck with it, feels like the best possible gift i could have given myself.

  • Highs: The scale dropped below 160 for the first time this morning! I took a zumba class too. It was pretty fun, though I had to dip a few times to rest.

Low: Some young woman recorded the entire class right after the instructor said not to. My clumsy ass was in frame 😭

  • I have lost two and a half stone, or 35 pounds, which is 20% of my body weight. Some nice round numbers to end the year!

  • Had a nice walk this morning while we had a break in our rain. It felt good. I so miss my previous routine and doing more, but I'm thankful for being able to get outside a little bit today. Hopefully, we'll have more opportunities for being outside if the weather allows.

I can't wrap my head around the fact that it's almost Christmas. Where did this month go?! I can hardly keep up. So much to do still, so little time. 😬
