Yeah. That's a common problem with winter riding. Bike has traction on ice...rider doesn't. Happens on graveled roads too. Got a big flood control reservoir here but haven't tried riding on it yet.
You've already got studded tires. That's usually the first lesson. Mine came 22 years ago this month. Fell twice...got studded tires. Now the next will be to avoid sloped icy surfaces. No studs in the sidewalls. Always cross a high crown road at 90°. Try not to ride up the side of a crown. Only falls since then were when I violated this rule.
As someone who rides very different terrain, I’m confused by your gearing 🤔 That chainring is wee and the cassette is huge. Do you have steep hills and/or load that long tail with 100s of lbs?
Doordashing to the ice fishermen I presume
That's actually a good idea 💡
You own my dream bike. But why the skinny tires?
I'm guessing for lower rolling resistance on mostly shallow snow and ice
That is correct!! I'll break out the fat tires if the snow dumps again. Right now it's a bit of a mixed bag.
It IS an awesome bike! 2.8" studded tires are for the blacktop/snow/ice mix we have right now in Mpls.
Fair enough!
Yeah it’s tough breaking out the fat bike studded tires when there’s pavement on the roads and sidewalks. Not much snow in northern mn either
What bike is that?
Salsa Blackborow midtail cargo

This is my first time riding through a MN winter so it's a learning curve 😄

Great advice, thank you!
This frame is suitable for mounting the battery and motor.
Probably! But I love her just the way she is ❤️
That bike looks like a hoot, skinnies with studs are my fav on bare lakes
👍The way to go
