Same for me. When I saw him on the show Receivers I really grew to like him. I think he is a good dude and hopefully he makes a full recovery. I have had him on many of my fantasy trams.
It doesn’t really matter - still shouldn’t go in round 4 because no TE other than McBride and Bowers should be off the board yet. Tonges should go in the 7-8 when Kraft, Loveland, Ferguson, and the rest of the ‘good but not elite’ TE’s start to go.
Depending on Kraft's injury timeline, he could (and probably should) be a tier above those players. Dude was balling, I'd have him a tier above those other names, assuming health.
Depending on Bears roster moves, Loveland will probably be steamed up as well, although to a slightly lesser degree. I could see him being a tier-break guy, with Fannin in the mix too. The "non-elite, but a path to elite status next year if these trends continue" tier of guys.
Tonges in a tier with guys like Ferguson and Goedert makes sense.
And I'm not saying any of those bigger names should be drafted super early. I just wouldn't have them all bunched together in the same bucket.
Yes that’s totally fair; I more just meant that there are still good options left in the 4/5 rounds and beyond, I wouldn’t reach for Tonges and if his adp puts him in those rounds I’m going to find another option.
Not arguing at this point, but how sure are we on Bowers? Another new coach coming in and some injury concerns already. I know he’s a pure advantage at the position when he’s playing and they’re using him, but we’ve seen great TEs brought low by coaching changes before. We’ve also seen injuries stacking up robbing guys of their primes. Are we comfortable with that gamble at this point? Waiting for the coach announcement to decide?
I’m not sure I’m going to be comfortable with any TE other than McBride in the first 5 rounds at this point.
I mostly just included bowers because he’s consensus going to go high so likely won’t be available when the other decent TE’s start to get picked. I personally agree he is not worth an early pick.
I started him in my championship with Kittle out. I can now keep him in the 10th. Gutted for Kittle, though. No one enjoys playing and entertaining more than him.
In r/nfl, there's a post where they said a 49ers staffer was seen carrying a bottle of tequila into the locker room in the middle of the game, presumably for Kittle since he was the only one in there.
Maybe a wrap on Kittle’s career? 32 with Achilles tear in Jan means he likely is missing most or all of next season, probably not fully healed and playing till he’s just about 34 at the start of the 2027 season
He’s just signed an extension last year I believe, he’s contracted to play until 2030. With his skill set he can most be a very good blocking/ red zone threat for a few more years .
He will be missed as his production when he's on the field is usually extraordinary. He was a mid-season pickup and helped me to a championship this year, so he'll always have place in my ring of honor. Get well, King.
I took Kittle this year. He was insanely good when he was healthy. But that's the problem...
Next year I'm punting TE for sure unless McBride falls in my lap. There are just too many options I see as acceptable that I expect to be available quite late. Fannin, Ferguson, Tonges, Henry, Johnson, or Goedert in the 10th is good enough for me.
Brutal
As a Hawks fan he was the one Niner I really liked ☹️
The only Niner I’ve liked since Frank Gore
You guys need to start loving Fred Warner
Didn’t like CJ Beathard?
True
As an eagles fan I’m a fan of Purdy as well
I can’t bring myself to like any 49er, but if he was a Seahawk or just out of the division I would love him. Very brutal injury to suffer through.
Same for me. When I saw him on the show Receivers I really grew to like him. I think he is a good dude and hopefully he makes a full recovery. I have had him on many of my fantasy trams.
Took it like a champ though. Tough player, tough loss.
I'm sure the bottle of Medicinal Tequila DeBartolo had delivered to him helped in the short term.
Tonges sleeper top 5 TE next season
He will get hyped up don’t worry
yeah hopefully his adp doesnt go insanely high
He’s 100% going to be the “value pick” TE that everyone talks about until he’s going in the 4/5 and he’s not a value anymore lol.
He should go no where near the 4th or 5th
How many guys are actually better
It doesn’t really matter - still shouldn’t go in round 4 because no TE other than McBride and Bowers should be off the board yet. Tonges should go in the 7-8 when Kraft, Loveland, Ferguson, and the rest of the ‘good but not elite’ TE’s start to go.

Loveland and Kraft are elite.
That much is obvious. Ferg is just a guy who is there.
Misread 4/5 as 4th or 5th TE
In the 4th round? Probably several dozen
Well I misread 4th/5th as 4th or 5th tight end but there are definitely not dozens of better tight ends and that’s clearly the context we’re using
Idk, I had him and he was great when he played, but he missed about half the season which was a bummer.
I started him in my championship with Kittle out. I can now keep him in the 10th. Gutted for Kittle, though. No one enjoys playing and entertaining more than him.
Hopefully he does to take the attention off my boy McBride. He's a WR in disguise I tell you.
Edit: he would have been WR5 in my league.
Hopefully he recovers fast
This late in the season? This guy is missing most of next year.
I think he just meant in general a fast recovery bruh
On the cosmic scale, Kittle will do just fine.
On the cosmic timescale arent we all basically dead?
More that we're just born. Go seize the day tmrw aoddawg
We are all just meat suits in various stages of decay
Geologically, he will be back in no time.
His chakra will need major rework in the rehab
Before or after the heat death of universe you think?
Brother I think he was just wishing him a fast recovery
The recovery time to return to sports for a full tear is 6-9 months.
He is near assuredly out for all of next year.
Maybe, maybe not. Look at what Jayson Tatum is doing in his Achilles rehab right now.
Career mostly done, especially for fantasy.
Unfortunately this type of injury at 32 might well be a series wrap on his career
You don’t know George Kittle if you think this will end his career. He’s probably already shotgunning a beer and trying to rehab this very moment.
In r/nfl, there's a post where they said a 49ers staffer was seen carrying a bottle of tequila into the locker room in the middle of the game, presumably for Kittle since he was the only one in there.

His career will never be the same, however.
All the injuries finally piled up and he won't be fully healthy again until he's 34 years old. The days of elite Kittle are unfortunately over.
hes never gonna play the same
Hell nah. He will be back
I REALLY doubt this ends his career. Not downplaying the injury but Kittle is a baller.
It’s more an age thing coupled with the injury. He’ll be 34 when he comes back and a lot of elite athletes fade by then
Maybe a wrap on Kittle’s career? 32 with Achilles tear in Jan means he likely is missing most or all of next season, probably not fully healed and playing till he’s just about 34 at the start of the 2027 season
He’ll keep going & probably doesn’t play through injuries again.
Basically full preservation until playoffs
Why wouldn’t they just cut him this summer
He’s just signed an extension last year I believe, he’s contracted to play until 2030. With his skill set he can most be a very good blocking/ red zone threat for a few more years .
probably cause he's the face of the team and the best TE in the league when healthy
isn’t the whole idea of NFL only to care about what you can do next year
I think his next year is guaranteed but they might cut him next off-season. Real chance he played his last snap for the niner ls :(
God I didn't realize he was already 32... Wow
Yeah he and Kelce both burst on the scene a little later. I think both of them were 23 when they were drafted.
I imagine he comes back, but this is probably a wrap on him being anywhere near an elite TE.
Please prove me wrong George, but this is likely the end of fantasy stud Kittle. He’ll be back in 2027, but it won’t be the same.
Fuck man don’t write that down
It's the end of stud Kittle in fantasy. But he'll still be a very valuable NFL player.
But this is a brutal injury for a guy who couldn't afford another injury to the many he's already had.
He will not be kept…RIP
Get well soon king
Investigate the substation!
This ^
100%
Seriously the dumbest thing to come out of this
Fuck me man. Favorite player on my favorite team.
Damn that sucks
Damn thats tough
That’s most of next season he’ll be missing if he makes it back at all
Damn that sucks
Brutal, at his age that could be career ending. But I said the same thing about Kevin Durant and seven years later here we are so what do I know?
man the nicest ppl always get the worse luck its fkn maddening
This dude is so injury prone
Damn
Damn it
He will be missed as his production when he's on the field is usually extraordinary. He was a mid-season pickup and helped me to a championship this year, so he'll always have place in my ring of honor. Get well, King.
I picked up tonges to block my opponent in my dynasty championship game, accidentally made a great TE pickup to end the season. Also won the title
What’s the difference between an official tear and an unofficial tear?
I mean, a medical diagnosis.
Career, Set, Match. Damn shame kittle is a true G!!
End of an era
Never drafting another 49er ever again
I took Kittle this year. He was insanely good when he was healthy. But that's the problem...
Next year I'm punting TE for sure unless McBride falls in my lap. There are just too many options I see as acceptable that I expect to be available quite late. Fannin, Ferguson, Tonges, Henry, Johnson, or Goedert in the 10th is good enough for me.
We better still see him in Little Caesars commercials till the end of time regardless if he plays or not
Sooo does this mean retirement you think or?
Stupid EMF
Omfg I hate season ending / horrible timeline - playoff injuries. Crazy
Fuck
But it's Kittle... Will he play next week?
he was playing so fkn good this yr when he could play
fk man
Officially tore, or officially say?
Are achilles injuries getting more common or something? Feels like there were a bunch the last two years
Chitballs
Couldn't he just use Deal Deer until he's healthy?
He came in clutch for me this season, my first ever, and now I understand why they call him brittle Kittle. Wishing him a quick recovery.
Rest up boss. Hopefully that tequila helped ease the pain a little!
Haha another inury- imagine how good he would be if staid healthy- i never roster him
It’s felt like for weeks that thing was hanging on a thread
Daaaamn.
This will ruin my fantasy season smh
Unfortunately not drafting him next year to risky might be a great IR hold for late next season tho
George Brittle
Good thing Tonges is like 80% of kittle
62%
So sorry for the foul-mouthed asshole.
“foul-mouthed asshole” 🤔
He certainly would be obnoxious to be around
So would you two.
