As a Bucky and Egbuka owner, this pleases me

    parent
    1 points slivr33

Bucky was hurt and Egbuka hit a rookie wall when he was the only option the defense had to cover.

Evans missed most of the season, Godwin missed half of the season. Otton missed games, their O-line had injuries.

This is a scapegoat. Baker held it together for the first half.

    parent root
    4 points angelicable

baker was also playing hurt and missed egbuka so many times

    parent root
    1 points BlurstOfTimes11

So Bucky being hurt is why Grizzard was running him between the tackles 15-20 times per game and not calling any designed passes to get him open in space? Makes perfect sense.

Baker got him fired. There isn’t an OC baker would’ve saved from his overthrows.

    parent
    54 points TheAB_Project

Wild that he got Coen a HC job then.

    parent root
    24 points CreamsicleMamba

    And Canales too

    parent root
    17 points Allstar9_

Coen got Coen a HC job. Trevor is having the best season of his career by a long shot

    parent root
    17 points TheAB_Project

Yes, that is the point. Good coordinators do well, bad ones get fired.

    parent root
    -7 points Allstar9_

Jumping the gun on Grizzord imo. He was well regarded and the offense was running fine without the HOF WR and shaky offensive line. Baker being unable to play even slightly injured is what got Grizzord fired

Baker doesn’t get along with people when he plays poorly, it’s rarely his fault

    parent root
    14 points CreamsicleMamba

I agree Baker deserves some of the blame but he also deserves some of the praise for playing well under the previous two coordinators. You can't have it both ways.

    parent root
    2 points Allstar9_

I mean the previous coordinator has gone on to show it’s more him than the player. He took Tlaw from broken to elite in a single season

    parent root
    7 points DTopping80

Both previous coordinators. Carolina has done well with Canales

    parent root
    2 points Allstar9_

Yea but when he was with Canales, he was fine. No different than his Browns time.

    parent root
    4 points TheAB_Project

Grizzard couldn't do anything with his running backs all year and the entire offense struggled to do anything in rhythm, on time, or consistently all year. The offense was 'running fine' because there's a ton of capital and money invested into veteran players. Veterans can operate a barely functioning offense with a coordinator that can't elevate them 'fine.'

If Canales and Coen were able to parlay their performances into HC jobs, then Grizzard suffering the same opposite fate isn't surprising. I think his inability to do anything with a very talented stable of running backs was pretty damning. The offense couldn't do shit in the last 11 games until Baker had to do the backyard hero ball nonsense and find a receiver downfield for 30 yards.

Buc’s 2024 high success rate on 3rd downs was attributed to Grizzard.

Jaguars 2025 offense didn’t stabilize and take off until they traded for Meyers.

Coen’s bread and butter is the run game for both of these teams.

    29 points rhoran280

Bakers hurt and it’s hilarious to watch people talk themselves into 2022 browns talking points.

    parent root
    17 points 1BreadBoi

No no, maybe they should fire baker. And you know what? Maybe they should trade Baker and two first for deshaun Watson.

    parent root
    6 points rhoran280

I think the panthers could use a scout team edge rusher for their playoff push

    parent root
    2 points jmajewski

I think it's also fairly obvious now that Coen was clearly a huge part of why the 2024 Bucs were so successful on offense.

    parent root
    14 points ironhide999x

The playcalling was awful before he started playing bad and he was injured

Bowles on OC hires: 2/3 ain't bad!

    parent
  • 1 points sketchy722

I'm not 100% sure, someone look this up. I believe Baker has had a different OC or play caller every year in the NFL. And now that will continue

    parent
  • 1 points biggiec23

    Mike McDaniels come on down!

    parent

    Baker got him fired

Baker also got the previous two OC’s hired as Head Coaches though?
