There have been a couple of studies that may have indicated a correlation, and have since been discredited by other studies who show there is not. If anything, they might have demonstrated that people with autism tend to get vaccinated, which is a good thing.
Can we say absolutely that vaccines never cause autism? No, and we don't have to. We can say that in the vast data we have accumulated in global vaccinations over many, many decades - that no real causal relationship exists between the two. We might as well ask if are we sure that vaccines do not cause unicorns.
There is no need to prove something doesn't exist, if there's no evidence that something exists.
Belief has a place in the beginning, when forming your initial hypothesis, but shouldn't get in the way of you applying scientific rigor to the hypothesis. Those beliefs should be shaped by the existing body of knowledge already contained within science, though.

The link says that we haven't PROVEN that vaccines DON'T cause autism, so they won't let the CDC say that there ISN'T a link. By this logic, the CDC also isn't allowed to say that washing your hands doesn't cause cavities because they haven't PROVEN that it doesn't. Like how can you prove something a negative? So until they can without a doubt prove that there is no link, they aren't allowed to say there isn't a link, which in turn perpetuates the idea that there might be and letting conspiracy theorists run rampant.
I wish posts like this would try to post the nuance of the situation rather than bend the truth in the headline, because I think that makes it harder to understand and fight the actual issue.

Plenty of vaccinated kids have autism and plenty of unvaccinated kids do, too. Most of those kids have a few things in common: they have older moms and dads as parents, vs. in previous generations. They also generally have obese/overweight moms and dads, many with histories of or significant current medication/drug use or dependency, both prescription and recreational drug use. Wouldn’t it be more productive to look at parental age, weight, and drug use/history of drug use and not vaccines? HPA axis stuff. Environmental agonists.

This seems like a misleading title. The website is updated to more accurately represent scientific findings over the past 30 years. That is that no study of any repute has proven that vaccines do not cause autism.
This is now at least a little more consistent with the manufacturers warnings included in the packaging of some vaccines that lists autism as a risk factor.
Before this change the CDC and the package warnings were in conflict.

The link says that we haven't PROVEN that vaccines DON'T cause autism, so they won't let the CDC say that there ISN'T a link. By this logic, the CDC also isn't allowed to say that washing your hands doesn't cause cavities because they haven't PROVEN that it doesn't. Like how can you prove something a negative? So until they can without a doubt prove that there is no link, they aren't allowed to say there isn't a link, which in turn perpetuates the idea that there might be and letting conspiracy theorists run rampant.
I wish posts like this would try to post the nuance of the situation rather than bend the truth in the headline, because I think that makes it harder to understand and fight the actual issue.

The cdc shouldnt be publishing those things- because it simply reflects rfk and co beliefs that vaccines cause autism - it doesnt represent the scientific consensus or reality. facepalm
The whole point of what they published was to indirectly push that theory by misrepresenting findings and deliberatley trying to cause ppl to question how science works, just like they did with the tylenol theory. And the problem is too many Americans believe this shit.

Can you sue someone in authority who is advocating positions not related to their area of expertise or beyond their knowledge and education, or scope of employment? Plenty of vaccinated kids have autism and plenty of unvaccinated kids do, too. Most of those kids have a few things in common: they have older moms and dads as parents, vs. in previous generations. They also generally have obese/overweight moms and dads, many with histories of or significant current medication/drug use or dependency, both prescription and recreational drug use. Wouldn’t it be more productive to look at parental age, weight, and drug use/history of drug use and not vaccines? HPA axis stuff. Environmental agonists.

This seems like a misleading title. The website is updated to more accurately represent scientific findings over the past 30 years. That is that no study of any repute has proven that vaccines do not cause autism.
This is now at least a little more consistent with the manufacturers warnings included in the packaging of some vaccines that lists autism as a risk factor.
Before this change the CDC and the package warnings were in conflict.
Applying that same logic would mean:
Coffee hasn’t been “ruled out” as a cause of autism.
Water hasn’t been “ruled out.”
Peppa Pig hasn’t been “ruled out.”
The CDC is applying a standard that no scientific field uses, because it collapses into absurdity.
The correct scientific standard is weight of evidence not metaphysical certainty.
Your argument fails because it demands a level of proof that no discipline applies anywhere.
No study can ever prove vaccines do not cause autism. That is the same as trying to prove a negative. It's so sad that you're unable to grasp what is wrong with what you said.

Gavin de Becker talks about this and other things in his book Forbidden Facts. I haven’t read it yet but heard him talking on Mike Rowe’s podcast. They talk about Science being perpetually up for debate versus being settled, as well as de-bunking the de-bunkers. De Becker isn’t an anti-vaxxer, a medical professional, or a scientist, so I’m interested in reading the book, which apparently has QR codes on every page to link to the source material.
