The good old PB/5 pedestrian button. I wish they all had that little red light on them to let you know when someone's pressed it, like they do down in Melbourne.
In NZ you don't need the light; the pedestrian signal isn't lit if you need to push the button to cross. If you see a red pedestrian signal, either the button's already been pushed, or it's set up to just give pedestrians a green every cycle (common in the city centre during the day).
Yeah, it makes so much sense. But then you go to another country and sometimes find yourself waiting for ages at a red crossing like an idiot because you didn't push the button.
Where is that? It's Aus/NZ style, but Aus/NZ standards say it should be mounted in line with the crossing direction unless it's in the median and allows crossing to either side. That is, ↑ and ↔ should be the only possible arrows.
Noot noot!

That's a neat way to do it.

Push my nose, Steve.
“Daddy play honk?”

I was in Canberra Aus today when I saw it
Oh damn, that's where I am
I couldn’t believe I’d finally found one in the wild! Go Canberra eyebombers!
LOL. It’s interesting. It seems to be telling pedestrians that they can cross the road now.
