View from I-16 east after passing by Hyundai's massive EV plant here in Georgia. Photo taken at approx. 2am in the dead of winter. Its obscene. This is approx. 2 mile from the plant, too
My sister-in-law thinks I made that term up when I explained it to her late at night when visiting her lake house
I pointed into the distance and told her look that’s probably Coldwater Michigan’s light pollution ( we were about 20 miles south, and the sky was lit up in that direction) You could still see the stars, of course, but you could definitely tell something bright was in the distance. Looking on Google maps that was the biggest city north of us and she laughed at me and said that’s not true…. Light pollution doesn’t exist. The light just disappears into the sky 🤣
Light pollution is seriously getting crazy, and apparently all these data centers being installed will add to it tremendously
LED lights around here are generally less glare-ey than their replacements, since all the light is directed down where it needs to be. Looks like a low ceiling in your photo, so maybe it's not as bad in clear weather.
I wish there were national standards for allowable light. Dark skies are better for people and animals. There is no reason for a plant to have a light that illuminates more than just its property.
If you go down to the outskirts of Cincinnati (OH)— even near Clermont county and Adam’s county the sky is always orange at night. It’s disgusting, but I only noticed when I moved away a few months ago after living in the city my entire life.

NGL, at first, I thought you were driving into oncoming traffic.
That is behind me on the interstate. Couldn't stop prior to the plant because of the construction happening down there.
Holy hell, that really sucks

Don't worry, it will bring tens if not dozens of jobs to the local area.
I mean, it did bring lots of jobs, I cant dispute that as an engineer.
But no reason for smth like a thousand acres to be covered in blinding white LEDs.
Most of the jobs are temporary once the plant is built it runs on a skeleton crew.
Meanwhile everyone's electric and water bills shoot through the roof because they get special deals while us plebs have to pick up the slack.

I finally feel seen I fucking hate driving at night as a southeastern georgian it feels like a punishment for having the gall to want a midnight snack
The light pollution is something I do not miss about Georgia

Honestly no reason to illuminate the property to begin with. The entire parking lot is completely lit for no good reason.
Correction: taken on I-16 West, not east.

Not really fitting of the sub. More r/mildlyinfuriating.
If you're a bootlicker for corporate interests, I guess.
