Not to sound ignorant, but I read the write up on

The Watchtower about the new Governing Body Members and their wives…in my opinion these men look relatively young, not super young, but definitely not in their 70’s…my question is this, do you think the org are strategically going to replace each member when they pass with a younger member?

  • That what they have done, and will continue to do. It never a direct replacement, Brother X dies, and Brother Y is appointed to replace him. But younger brothers are appointed as and when the body feels like they are needed.

Currently three members are elderly or sickly (Samuel Herd, Gerrit Lösch, Stephen Lett), i am sure the newly appointed members are there to asset and eventually take over from these ones. And of cause Anthony Morris III who was removed from the brother.

There is also the theory that there is a division in the body (old-school vs. new-school) and new members were brought on to boosts one side votes.

And the skills of new members might also be a reason. (For example Geoffrey Jackson was appointed around the time Watchtower start to focus on translating into more languages, and now Jody Jedele, when the focus seem to be on property). I haven't look much into this, might just be a coincidence.

    I think you’re right.

Makes me wonder - the two recently appointed were never "helpers" to the GB. They seemed to just leapfrog that role. I wonder what/who they knew to get that gig?

    It’s always who you know

    Or who you nose

All GB members were first appointed to the Helper class for a few months, before being moved up. (At least since 2000). So the two new helpers might soon be announced as GB members, if they are 'anointed' of cause. Or maybe just are new helpers.

It reminds me of the struggle for power in the Supreme Court.

Oh... now that you mention it, me, too.

Yeah you got a point there 😭💔

    (Also fellow Zimbabwean💙💙💙)

Pure suspicion, nothing concrete, you're just talking nonsense.

Unfortunately, if you wait for confirmed, unbiased factual reporting of what's really happening at HQ. to be be forthcoming, you would still be wondering where Rutherfords buried.

The GB Are Irrelevant...They are the Latest Watchtower Story Line.

What Matters "IS" The Story Line..

The GB Could be Reduced, Expanded, OR... Replaced By the

    " NEW LIGHT" Monkey

    You KNOW...

    JW`s Would Defend Watchtower`s

    "NEW LIGHT" Monkey!...........😀

What is the new light monkey?

Just some humor to say the blinded will follow anything/anyone

Is that groundhog day - asking the groundhog one a year (before the AGM?) whether there is any new light?

Yes. They have 4 new "adjustments" they put on the wall eg. 1. Allow Mothers / Fathers Day, 2. Allow Birthdays & Christmas, 3. Announce branch dedication in random South American / African country, 4. Cancel Midweek Meetings.

Depending which of the 4 squares the New Light Monkey throws his shit at, that square will be the one announced in the Update for that particular period.

Omg lol lol you my fine sir are a genius lol.

  • Of course they are, they have been doing it for decades, they will continue doing it. You have to realize that when they officially came up with the idea of a Governing Body back in the mid 70s, all of those Governing Body members have died off years ago, to be replaced by younger members. It’s been going on for the last 50 years. I find it very strange to see how the last several new members are younger than me, and I’m not that old!

  • I’d like to know when the new guys started partaking of the emblems. How old were they? I just know if younger 30 year old dudes started partaking in my area they would be laughed out of the hall. Not a single 30-40 year old brother would be respected if they suddenly started partaking.

Now, that is what I've been wondering for a while. I think that these guys get to a certain level in the organization and they realize they've hit a ceiling since they're not partaking, and they want to go higher. Therefore, they convince themselves they're anointed. Or... maybe they have some help. Maybe a GB member taps them on the shoulder and says "Hey, you know, if you were partaking, it's possible that you could have a goal of being on the GB. You've been a faithful, hardworking brother for many years; are you sure you haven't felt the calling [wink wink]?"

If there is a Jehovah, there's no way in hell he'd pick Jedele to be anointed over some older JWs who have suffered and sacrificed greatly for decades in sincerity and faithfulness.

And that weasel guy with the glasses, or is that him I don’t even know 🤣

  • Every old geezer governing body member was a young governing body member once.

  • Of course and the sheeple will eat it up like fresh grass waiting on the gaurd dog to guide them back into the kennel

  • Most definitely.

  • They will have to, no matter how stubborn they are to “trade in” that governing position.

  • What they need is more color not just white. How about African, Asian, Latin.

I agree with you 100% but I work all over the country, and let me tell you there are few areas more aggressively white than upstate New York. All the whiter places are in that general vicinity too 😆

I don’t just mean white, I mean bland ass personalities too. At least white folks from IE: Wisconsin are nice, personable, and often enjoyable to talk to.

Layer in they’re a destructive cult with a lot of racism in the ranks, history, and messaging….

It’s very white up there but there most definitely are non whites up there too and this cult has a whole world of people to choose from.

Interesting because I was raised in Syracuse and knew my first blacks in high school who were JWs. I was Catholic. Moved to California and learned the truth in my mid 30s from a Chinese from Taiwan. Ups and downs for 40 odd years now living in Mexico and love the sincerity of the people so am very sensitive about the white leadership. And that’s just one point of disagreement.

Isn’t it interesting how a religion started in the Middle East chose a white dude from Pennsylvania to represent the worlds organization? lol

Wow -- when you put ot that way, how could ppl not see it is clearly "da troof?"? Yeah, makes a lot of sense. /s

  • Replacing Dead governing body members, or ones they have kicked off like Ray Franz or Anthony Morris is the usual. They are never specific on how many there are on the body but I remember there being 18 in the 80s and 90s. If they are having younger men on the body they would have to know at what point in their lives they became anointed. They would HAVE to be in the cross over or overlapping generation first and foremost because if they were only recently claiming to be anointed that would go against their “overlapping generation” teaching. But do they care? Probably not as they live in an ivory tower where they are protected like some place in the Vatican where they have security guards and don’t allow any questioning on their dogma. Well I suppose they do allow questioning….as long as you accept the answer and don’t question this.

They are always specific on who are members of the GB. I think they used to include a list of them in the annual Yearbook. The largest it has ever been is 17 members, back in the 70s.

When I said they are never specific on the governing body members I meant they are not specific on the amount of members that sit on the body. It can range from 9 (or lower) to 18 on occasion. They don’t abide by some magical biblical number. I think Ray Franz in his book “Crisis” mentioned there were 18 when he talked about the rule of 2/3 majority being adopted.

  • do you think the org are strategically going to replace each member when they pass with a younger member?

Would it be possible to replace them with even older members?

  • These new ones are necessary because the Premium suite is empty, and who would leave it for in the whole Bethel? It would cause arguments... The baker might be tempted to move in, and that would be causing temptation; after all, they shouldn't cause others to stumble, right?

  • Yes, with real-estate agents.

  • We're currently transitioning from GB2.0 to GB3.0.

GB3.0 will be comprised of total yes-men and those with investment and real estate experience. (Jody Julene) Baldness seems like a pee-requisant, but not required. Those with critical thinking skills need not apply.

More like GB 5.0 or 6.0.

  • Strategically? 😂😂

Bro, they are old as fuck. They have to replace with younger.

  • Of course, they’ll do, as long as the org exists.

  • Another thing I think comes into play here. Prior to the GB being soley identified as the faithful slave brothers on the GB served until their death. I dont think we will see this continue if brothers are very sick and incapable of serving as part of the faithful slave. It seems to me that extra role makes having a body that is completely with it mentally is more important than prior times , so I suspect they will get younger replacements.

  • It's part of the new agenda and a new look ;a different appearance. Changes keep coming. Do not marvel.

  • I think they are both about 50

  • What I’m more concerned about is when the fuck are they gonna add a guy who is NOT another white wonder bread in their GB?? My family hate it whenever I bring that up because, yeah, they added Clarence Thomas — erm, I mean — Samuel Herd of whatever his first name is, and he’s the only black guy in the GB. Say what you want about the GB. I also have my own reservations about them snobs, but I wanna see an Asian or a Latino or an Inuit or an Indian dude or whatever…because I’m tired of just seeing more and more wonder breads being thrown into the GB group like those damn Mor(m)ons and their whole Quarrel of the 12 white apostates.

  • The overlapping generation ends around 2070 being extremely generous with the interpretation, 2090. So yeah, they can add a 21yo elder as a member and still have the prefect excuse

  • We had an 30 yr-old anointed brother who was white and very rural, he spoke Spanish and he was very soon in the Spanish Cong. NO One Questioned him about his anointed status.

  • They don't have any other choice.

  • I can see them bringing a 30+ year old. To cater to the younger generation.

  • There are significantly more Black people in upstate New York than all of Wyoming and Idaho combined.
