Locking, on account of those in this thread who are still too enmeshed in their own anger and grief to confront this topic with objectivity or empathy. We are trying not to promote an environment where we are celebrating the demise of random JWs or dehumanizing them, and it seems this type of conversation isn't helping people with that.
I remember I wasn’t allowed to say “passed” as my (elder) father felt this indicated she was moving from one place to another. We had to say the less soft “died” to prove we stood for theocracy. smh
We could say passed away, but we couldn't say passed on. Very, very important distinction, God will get super mad and might kill you at Armageddon if you don't get that right.
Oh totally with you. It does nothing to me anymore. Now, I’m happy with my Norse Runes following. Don’t like Christianity anymore. Sorry about it! Too fake, too hypocritical. I’m a pagan person. Love it!
Not really, because Lett thinks he's going to heaven and won't be there with her anyways. So he's still free to "break in another wife" (his words) while he's waiting for that.
And that would follow the example of Biblical figures like Abraham, who was 137 when his beloved wife (and half-sister) died. Then he remarried a much younger woman and had six(!) kids. Plus he also had a bunch of concubines on the side.
People, if you read my comments history you'll see that I'm the first to condemn the cult and the GB, no holds barred.
That said, and while I didn't know her, can't defend her, and am not sure why we should care about this death, i.e., why post it in the exjw sub....at the same time, the vitriol seems over the top.
While at bethel, I met the GB and their wives. A mixed bag of personalities for sure, including the wives. Women in bethel, even GB wives, are basically baggage. They have position but only so long as their husbands are in power, but it didn't equate to influence on policy. I knew Nathan Knorr's wife. After he died she eventually ended up at Watchtower Farms. Very quiet, always friendly, unassuming. As a widow at Bethel, she was nothing. If you think women are nothing in the congregation, go to bethel, where they are really nothing. They are considered as unnecessary to bethel functioning. Anything they can do, men can do better and they are never allowed to forget it. Don't think the GB wives are any different. They smile and have to keep their mouths shut. Always. They will get in trouble if they don't. In some respects they are battered women.
Reserve your anger for the GB, the decision-makers, the ones who have power over peoples lives. Their wives absolutely do not.
I get it. Imagine being in bethel, at the top, behind the curtain. Face to face with them at the top. I was. It took a lot of therapy and time to work through the anger. I keep a level of anger as it motivates me never to be manipulated again as I was while in the cult. Healthy anger=energy. It can be motivating.
I do feel sad. This woman probably died for what she believed in, until her very last breath. Completely and utterly faithful. Everyone who knew her probably expect to see her in paradise. que the eyeroll
Its bittersweet for me, bitter because its such a tragedy...so much blind loyalty.
For those saying she knew better, just stop. You dont know better until you do. Some of you were smart and damn lucky to have known better. Some of you got hurt bad and might still be jaded. Some of you are trying to hold on to those you love at a high cost. Some of you are still looking for answers. Waking up isnt the same.
and so many are never going to wake up....they believe this faithfully and wholeheartedly.... That when they die, they will have lived a life worthy of that reward. Oh it really is so sad. So bitterly, tragically sad.
Its not on me to judge this woman on whether she knew better or not, its not on you either. That kind of judging is old JW behavior.
And the sweet part, I really do hope she didnt know any better..... because that reality has haunted all of us.
I dont agree with Garrett Loche or the part he plays in running the organization, but I do feel for him that his wife died. I hope he is able to find peace and reconciliation.
Damn that’s cold-hearted and completely devoid of empathy. It’s as if you’ve completely forgotten how cults work and how they especially abuse the vulnerable. Women are especially abused in the cult.
Do you have any evidence for your claims? How do you know her intentions or her situation well enough to say that? How do you know she wasn’t silenced? How do you know any of what you’re saying?
If my family ruined the lives of thousands of people by ignoring child abuse and protecting the assailant, not only hid the crime (specifically asking to destroy evidence and then lying about it) but went after the victims in court; were cult leaders; destroyed families; pushed many to suicide, etc, I would totally be okay for someone to copy and paste my comment. I mean, I don’t expect you to get this, given how tone deaf you are expecting respect for this woman in a sub created to help VICTIMS AND SURVIVORS OF THIS FUCKING CULT!
You actually defend the wife of a GB member who covered up CSA, sent thousands to their graves over an arbitrary and inconsistent doctrine over blood transfusions, and hypocritical application of political affiliations. Really? That’s sick.

Death is real. Depending what stage of life you are in, you either have more years in front of you or behind you. Death is YOUR END. So, yes, you or someone you know could be in THEIR FINAL PART OF THE FINAL PART OF THEIR LAST DAYS. THEIR "END IS NEAR"...which is DEATH. DON'T TAKE YOUR LIFE FOR GRANTED. LIVE YOUR BEST LIFE & BE DETERMINED TO NEVER ALLOW ANYONE TO STEAL YOUR LIFE AWAY FROM YOU. Watchtower is the grim reaper of stealing people's ENTIRE LIVES, for their own greed & wealth. No matter how high up you are within the cult of Jehovah's Witnesses, the END RESULT IS STEAL DEATH. NOBODY WILL EVER CHEAT DEATH. DESPITE THE LIE THIS CULT TELLS THEIR MEMBERS. Her death proves it along with many others. Wake up JWS. Wake UP!!!!

Yeah, me too. Funny though, it can mean passing away anywhere, including nonexistence. We made all these words up after all
We could say passed away, but we couldn't say passed on. Very, very important distinction, God will get super mad and might kill you at Armageddon if you don't get that right.
Same, we could say passed away, but not passed on. But most common was the archaic-sounding “fell asleep in death”.
🤦♂️ what a weird thing to nit pick 😆
Not the only thing they pick
Reading these comments made me realize how much I’ve moved on from this. There’s no greater freedom than indifference

Who is she?
gb wife
I thought the same, who? And now that I know, I guess, Thoughts and prayers?
I am sad she dedicated her life to the cult. Yet I am sure she lived well. I guess Losch, Lett and Sanderson are now GB eligible bachelor's.
Wait lett is not married?
She passed away in September
If he remarried, that shows he knows there is no paradise coming, and that the GB knows this.
Not really, because Lett thinks he's going to heaven and won't be there with her anyways. So he's still free to "break in another wife" (his words) while he's waiting for that.

Ahhhh
Never saw anything on that other than a random congregation post a comment here on reddit.
Google it
I have. Hate to say it but “if it’s not on the JW website….”
Sept 29th Bethel morning worship. Died at 77 years old.

Sounds like Gilead in Handmaid’s Tale
Glad you get the point. Exactly.
Because people can’t let go of the borg.

I'm not happy she's gone, by no means, but she ain't my "sister."
Not my sister.

Nah man that's rude as heck lol
Man, this community really disappointed me today.
I dont agree with Garrett Loche or the part he plays in running the organization, but I do feel for him that his wife died. I hope he is able to find peace and reconciliation.
Is mods echo your feelings. We locked the thread because of that same disappointment.

Wow nice, hope people say the same about your family. Have you tried counseling yet? Anger management? Doubt they will help you but worth a shot.

While we don’t share the same faith, rest in peace
Finally someone who isn’t so full of hatred

Respectfully, I’m not with you on this sorry.
Yes, reported here in the sub last week.
They didn’t care when my best friend was killed by another JW. So why should I care.
I just lurk here on this and the exmo sub. Question:
Why commemorate dying but not birthdays?
Kinda want to listen another one bites the dust by queen upon seeing this news
And another one gone, and another one gone
Can I just point out how much she looks like him in that photo? Like a female version of him 😮
I could careless..
Where was the care when my dad was sick? Where was it when he passed away in October?
Where’s the care for the children that are victims of SA or the women of domestic violence?
Where is the care for the aging and the old?
Where’s the caring for the kids that are in school and they’re getting responsibilities heaped upon them and not having a childhood?
Or for the families that are being torn apart because the stupid idiotic JW GB rules?
I could go on and on.
There are much more important things to care about.

Who's sister?
Rest in peace. We didn’t agree but she deserves respect like any human

Saying someone deserves death because of religious disagreements? Being glad that someone you view as immoral has died?
Guys, I think I may have just found a JW.

What do you gain out of this? Genuine question.
Its called an outlet. People have been really hurt by these org people. We're not gonna pretend like it's all good just cuz one dies.
Well said 💜

😥 Very sad to loose a dear relative and friend. My thoughts are with her family.🕯
So 2nd GB wife down recently. I wonder if there will be any nu lite as the boomer GB and family die off
It's regrettable.
Inb4 losche depression spirals, downloads tiktok and suddenly thinks Christian’s should roll tank on Quebec for some bewildering fucking reason.
