So during elders meeting, CO told to 71 oldy elder that “I will recommend you to be the asst service overseer” and “please consider my recommendation in your next elders meeting”. The oldy 71 yr old was so happy after hearing this because his bribe was effective. So when the elder’s meeting arrived, the BOE was asked if they have any recommendation but this oldy elder suddenly raised his hand and said “ the CO just spoke to me and he said that he wanted me to recommend as asst service overseer and I don’t want to disappointed him or turn him down for his favor”. Yeah, he’s followers of men and creature worshipper at his senior age!
Asst to the service overseer? That’s like the classic “assistant to the regional manager”. It’s a nothing role, completely made up.
Yeah, I was service overseer in 4 different congregations, never had an assistant, never heard of that either.

Sounds to me like he’s probably getting very senile at 70 and probably is not able to fulfill his assignments as he used to. So to make him useful the CO said hey I want you to be the assistant so he can feel useful. Which means the others elders have been complaining about him to the CO behind his back.

At the hall I used to attend, there are elders in their 80's, even one who is 101 next year. Many of them are suffering visibly from the effects of Alzheimers, but refuse to step down.

Most congregations have really old elders that don't do very much and often get frustrated that they aren't being used. I was secretary once and the elders assigned an 80 year old guy to "assist" me but in reality he couldn't do anything - he was at the stage where he often missed meetings due to ill health. I really worked hard to find something he was capable of doing , even if just in a nominal way , but I never found anything.
