Noticed a lot of riders mentioning range issues lately.
We work around e-bikes here in Ireland and every winter we see the same pattern — batteries just don’t like the cold.
Curious how others here manage it?
Do you bring the battery indoors, use any covers, or just accept the drop and ride on?
Always interesting to hear real experiences from folks actually out there braving Irish weather.
What do people do in Canada, Scandinavia etc. Irish winters aren't particularly cold by international standards.
Yeah can be close to a 50% range drop for an electric car when it gets down to the negative 30s and 40s.
These are the temps where most ICE drivers leave their vehicle running all day because there's a risk they won't start again.
Good news is the cold is good for the battery chemistry! Not great news if it's out of juice though
Unless is lfp. If it is lfp pray for the car to put some temperature on them. Or the degradation will be epic.
I bring the battery inside for both security and battery protection
